Out in the Rain

Because sometimes forgiveness doesn't come from those that you've wronged.

A/N: This is my first ever Draco/Astoria and it's for Msytii's Freeverse Challenge; the prompt is "umbrella." Please read and review!

You're standing in the rain

and getting rather pissed off

at the fact it's so w e t a n d c o l d

(and it's times like this

you really wish you had your wand back)

but somehow,

the fact that rain is falling

fits perfectly.

Because it's cemeteries and s a d ness

and tears wetting where the rain doesn't.

'cause your mother

is d e a d a n d b u r i e d under six feet of

dirt

But suddenly there isn't

rain above you

and so you look back

and there's a

g i r l

holding an umbrella above

your head.

And you wonder why

anyone

would bother with you

(after all you're Draco Malfoy

and the whole world hates your guts)

you raise your eyebrow

and she quirks hers right back

and starts to

g i g g l e

(and even though you scowl

it's the nicest thing you've heard

since…

well, since a while)

and so it's a girl

with an u m b r e l l a

who g i g g l e s

(and despite the fact

she's pureblood- a Greengrass even

you're pretty sure your parents would have neverever

approved)

so it's that girl

who reaches out

and gives

forgiveness

(because she knows what it's like

to be out in the r a i n)
