Broken Angel

Kyuubi Seitenshi

All around them, a torrential storm was crashing, thunder singing in the sky. But below, on the earth, one less girl was crying.

It was this day a three years ago that Suou Haruhi… buried her husband.

All around had been the whispers; she was so young for a widow, after all. They had only been married for three years; and they'd been very much in love.

But on this day, three years ago, Suou Haruhi last cried; there were no tears left in her. How then, could she cry? She'd loved that boy more than life, but now, his life was gone. So, how then, did she continue living? It began in form of song.

She was a broken angel-

Tears were painting her pale face.

And with a broken voice she greeted

The ones who passed her way.

And though her eyes were red and swollen

I didn't seem to feel

That she was broken on the inside;

I was sure that she would heal.

For every angel loses feathers,

But with courage they will mend;

So broken angel, darling,

Please don't cry-

I'll be with you 'till the end.

Her lover's best friend had sung this tune, his voice soft and low. What little comfort it had given had, from then, begun to grow.

On this day three years ago, Ootori Kyouya sung this song. He murmured names of broken angels, and talked of days long gone. He, too, had loved the man who now rested in the coffin- "best of friends" they'd always been; he, too, was broken hearted.

But on this day, three years later, a child in her arms, Ootori Haruhi smiled upon the grave, her husband at her side.

"He'll forgive me, won't he? For falling for someone else…" Her lover smirked a little, and kissed her on the nose.

"I don't care if he screams at me; I love you all the same. But I don't think he'll mind too much; he'd understand, for sure. He wouldn't want you grieving forever, I am sure."

For tomorrow, just one year ago, was their wedding day.
