I don't own Star Trek; I'm not getting paid, etc. Oh, and the characters aren't mine either.
Just a few drabbles I thought of while trying to get to sleep last night. Didn't think I could write these in-character, but it worked better than I thought it would. To my computer these are 100 words with the titles, by the way. I had to cut a lot to make them fit, so I hope they make sense. Enjoy, everyone, and please read and review. I'm still new around here; constructive criticism is appreciated! Oh, and this is 100 words, too. Yay!
Expanding Waistline
The three Starfleet officers stood in sickbay, thankful that the mission had gone off with only a few minor injuries. Jim Kirk caught a glance of his reflection and turned to examine himself in the mirror, twisting slightly as he adjusted his uniform. "Spock, do you think this shirt makes me look fat?"
His first officer raised an eyebrow. "Your waistline has slightly expanded since our last rest leave, captain. You are, in fact, two point seven percent more corpulent than prior readings show you were formerly."
"He means you are fat, Jim."
"Bones?"
"Yeah?"
"Who asked you!"
The Future?
Kirk looked at the twenty-first century humanoid who'd somehow transferred forward in time to his ship and was now staring at him, stunned. "You have hippies in this century?"
"I thought their philosophy quite fascinating, sir," Spock spoke up. "I see no reason for your disparaging tone."
He turned to McCoy. "You still have unknown soldiers? Don't you DNA test?"
A blank stare answered him.
The anachronism next turned on Spock. "You use clanky computers to analyze data? With small floppy disks?" He shook his head. "I'm going back to my own century, where the microchip's been invented!"
Explanations
Skimming the message, she suddenly groaned. After that Corbomite fiasco you would think the captain would stop dispersing his personnel throughout the universe, but that could never happen.
Last week a reticent lieutenant had been kidnapped by a group of what turned out to be friendly but misguided aliens. She, a former teacher, was delighted to stay behind and instruct them.
Nothing had been heard from Starfleet, and she'd dared hope they had gotten away with it again. But it turned out said lieutenant's family was anything but quiet, and they wanted their daughter back. Here we go again.
