She drifted through an endless see of black. The horrible, monotone color surrounded her, it reached as far as she could see, and somehow further, like it was somehow beyond her perception. She turned her head to reveal two eyes. It was her left eye that was so noticeable. It was closed. Her other eye was a brilliant blue.
She didn't know how long she drifted, she just wanted to get out. Had to get out. For such a young girl this was her sentence, by fate's cruel decree. She drifted through the black, she had drifted through it for a very long time, she had only been awake for three minutes of her whole life. Somehow, she had learned so much in just that time-frame, but she didn't understand how much herself. All she wanted was to get out of this endless black sea.
She suddenly felt warm, despite the cold, as she heard a voice. Her mother, she knew instinctively.
"Hello Chidori."
Two words that made her heart leap. She tried desperately to speak but she couldn't, she tried to do something, anything to notify her mother of her presence. She failed, she couldn't even wiggle her fingers.
"I see you still haven't woken up, but I hope I can meet you soon."
She felt something on her head, her mother must be patting her.
"I have to go now.. Bye."
Chidori would have scream had she been able to bring herself to do so, the chill returned and she curled into a ball in her lonely realm of existence. She just wanted to be free. 'Let me out!' Her right eye tingled, and opened, glimmering with a life of its own. ts iris was gold, while the right's was blue. The pupil seemed had several black lines running around it, making it look like a crude drawing of the sun. It shut shortly, and its owner sobbed in silence.

Gasping, Yuki Kuran stood stiffly upright in her bed, sweat dripping off of her brown bangs, "Just a dream.." she said as she sighed in relief, laying back down, but every time she closed her eyes, she saw the same little girl with her long golden hair and tear-stroked face, floating in that endless black.
No sleep would come for her tonight.
