'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through Seireitei,
Not a squad was stirring, not even Eleven.
Yachiru hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that a candy cane soon would be there.
Squad 4 was nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of lordship danced in their heads,
And Unohana in her 'kerchief and Kenpachi in his cap,
Had just settled their heads for a long winter's nap.
When out on the lawn there arose quite a clatter,
Zaraki sprang from his bed to see what was the matter.
"Who's there?" he growled. "I will have your head,
"Damn Christmas Eve when there's fighting in bed!"
The moon that did fall on the shimmering snow,
Shed light on the strangest of objects below,
When, what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a Squad 8 captain dishing out Christmas cheer.
With a young female driver, so sharp at the lip,
He knew in a moment that Nanao was it.
In a little red hat with a bell on the end,
Kyoraku danced off the sleigh with presents to send.
"Now Jushiro, now Soi Fong! Now, Toshiro and Momo!
On, Kira! On, Renji! Komamura, Isane!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
With a chorus of grumbling, some scowls alight,
The human reindeer leapt off from the height.
Up to the rooftops of houses they flew,
With a sleigh full of toys, and the 8th captain too.
And then Kenpachi could hear in the eaves,
The prancing and pawing of each waraji.
As he turned back around and stared doubtfully,
Down the chimney came Nanao, cursing a storm.
She was dressed all in red from her head to her foot,
Followed closely by Shunsui, tarnished with soot.
He handed a candy cane to a head of pink hair,
"It's part of the job," he said, merry with flair.
His eyes, how they twinkled! How goofy and merry!
His cheeks were like roses, 'twas the eggnog, no doubt.
He completely ignored the Eleventh captain,
And instead laid around toys for the asking.
A piece of mistletoe he held tight in his teeth,
Because smoking was wrong, and it was part of a wreath,
He strung up the mistletoe above Unohana's head,
And winked at Kenpachi, though no word was said.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
That wink of his eye and that twist of his head,
Made Kenpachi know he had plenty to dread.
He sprang to his sleigh, and Nanao whistled,
And away captains flew like the down of a thistle.
Kenpachi heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
I know it's been done before, but I couldn't resist. With Christmas and my favorite anime rolled into one, I know some of the rhyming is a mess, but bear with it please. And let me know what you think, since I made an effort. ^_^ Thank you for reading! Please do review!
