"I don't want you to go..." The young boy pleaded, smothering his face into the other's cloak as his hands gripped him tightly.
"I know bud, I know, but I have to..." The older boy bent down to rest his cheek on in the soft mass of blond hair. He rubbed the boy's back, which in return caused Roxas to snuggle into his chest even more.
"But I'm gonna miss you..."
Axel sighed softly. He didn't want to leave either, but he didn't have a choice. Roxas wasn't making this any easier for him. "I'll miss you too, but I've really got to go now."
"No..." Roxas hugged the tall man tighter, pulling him in so close that from afar they would appear as one. "I'm not going to let you go..."
"Roxas..." Axel bent down so that he could gently kiss the young boy's cheek, which flushed at his touch. "Promise you won't forget me..."
"I won't! I couldn't! You're all I ever think about, all I ever will..." A hot tear rolled down his cheek and he took deeper breaths, trying to stop more from coming. "The way you talk... You're making it sound like I'll never see you again..."
Axel was silent for a moment once he felt one of Roxas's salty tears hit his cheek. "Rox..."
"When will you be back?! Just tell me that... Please, tell me I'll see you again..."
The redhead let out another long sigh. "You know I can't answer that. If I could, I would, but I don't know the answer myself..." He move his head up to Roxas's ear and kissed it softly. "I'll always love you."
Slowly loosening his grip, Roxas let his hands fall back to his sides, his head hung low. Axel scruffed the blond boy's hair as he also took a step back.
"Goodbye." Axel whispered as he opened a dark portal. It engulfed him in the darkness, and then he was gone.
I'm not saying goodbye to you. If I say goodbye, then it means that you're gone forever... I'll never say goodbye...
Roxas stood alone in the darkness and another tear rolled down his cheek.
I'll never say goodbye...
