Chapter 1

Stella Maggiato had a rather glamorous life, and she knew that. True, underneath her façade of class and elegance, there was a little more going on, but she had what every woman strives for. Her husband loved her, he had a job that paid well enough to support them, and she herself did not have to work. It worked out quite well.

But as you looked closer, little details begin to pop out. Stella's husband worked long hours, and he only ate and slept when he was not working. Stella was much to small to live alone in their mansion on Fifth Avenue. Another minor thing being that Stella Maggiato's husband was a wanted gangster.

Antonio "Tony" Maggiato was to good at what he did to get caught. Everyone knew what he did, that he was not really the heir to a banking fortune, but there was never any evidence; and talk of Mr. Maggiato's current work was often frowned upon by society. Society who refuse to admit they had let something as lowly as gangsters, even high-rolling ones such as the Maggiato's, infiltrate their aura of classiness.
