Chapter #1: Anxiety

-------Elaya's POV------

"Okay, so, define 'Molality'....." Seto tested. He has been testing me on Organic Chemistry for the past hour.

"It's the thing....with the thing.....You know what thing I'm talking about right? That thing?" I answered. My last final exam at University was Organic Chemistry....I hate that course. It's in 24 hours and apparently, I haven't made any progress.....

"Define Molality" He repeated.

"It's the number of moles of solute per 1000g of the solvent....It's like a ratio of moles of solute to mass of solvent....right?" I cringed hoping my answer was right. He nodded and I let out a breath that I didn't really know I was holding.

"What is tin disease?" Man, this guy doesn't quit. Just keeps going and going....

"A disease where you end up with no heart and have to travel to the Wonderful Wizard of Oz to get one --"

"What is tin disease?"

"I don't know!" I roll over and end up on my back. Currently, he's on the floor of his bedroom and I'm on his bed. My head is so close from completely hanging off the edge of the bed that my hair is flowing freely off the sheets.

"E, you really have to focus." He lectures.

"I know....I know....." I sighed. "My brain hurts."

"Considering that you've been studying for the past hour non-stop....I believe that's normal."

"How come you didn't go to University?" I asked. "You got accepted left, right and centre!"

"I have a company to run, Elaya. Remember?" He stands up. Oh yeah. Seto got accepted to like, every University on the planet with scholarships.....but he didn't go. His company is too important for school.

"Well....you should always have something to fall back on in case....."

"In case my company fails?" He finishes as he makes his way over to his desk.

"Yeah."

"I have smarts. I'll be fine." The way I see it is that who would hire an adult with a high school diploma? Oh well...

I groan. "Can we please take a break?" I roll back over, now lying on my stomach. I pull myself off the bed and walk towards him. I haven't stood up in the past 30 minutes; my legs were as strong as Jell-O....Almost falling, I managed to catch the end of his desk to support myself. "Oh! Oh! Can I go on the Internet?!" I asked, jumping up and down.

Rolling his eyes, he logged in and motioned me to come near him.

"Alright! MSN Messenger [1], here I come!" Signing in, I realized that Téa, Yugi AND Joey were online! Even Bakura too! He got accepted into my University too....I wonder how his studying is holding up.....Ack! He just went offline.....

'Prima Ballerina (LOL)' must be Téa, 'Dark Magician' has to be Yugi, and 'I prefer the company of amphibians--Tristan you owe me 2 bucks!' gots to be Joey.....Only HE would think of something so weird....Well, MY screen name is weird too...'Elaya. Cramming for finals. SHOOT ME!'

After inviting all of them to a single conversation, I furiously typed in, 'OMG! Guys! How are you all doing?!'

Téa typed in: 'AH! Elaya! I'm great! You? (hugs)'

Yugi greets everyone with a: 'Hey!'

I wrote back. 'I feel like my head is gonna explode because I'm studying for my Chemistry final....other than that, great! (hugs Téa)'

Joey, or Tristan, whoever is typing for the two of them, wrote in: 'DUDES! This is Joey and Tristan! Woah! Haven't talked to you guys in a while.....I'm good...and I'm glad you're all good
too....'

Yugi typed in almost at the same time as the other two boys: 'Yeah, I heard Chem. is a
killer......'

Téa wrote next: 'Nice work on being optimisticYugi.'

On that topic, Joey and Tristan typed: 'ACK! Don't get us started on Chem! Man, we had this really horrible teacher....I (JW) almost failed! Tris got a seventy cuz he's a kiss ass.'

Tristan must of read that and typed back: 'Am NOT!'

Laughing, I typed in, 'Ladies, calm down.....hey, how are you two doing in school anyways? What are your averages?'

Joey wrote in first: 'Overall? I (JW) am getting 68%....Man, if I drop to a 59.9%, they might have to send me out!'

Then Téaa typed in: 'Oh! Joey! That's horrible!'

Next, was Yugi: 'Yeah! You gotta keep trying to get those marks up Joey!'

Joey wrote back: 'I know I know.....Tris on the other hand is getting 76%.....We're hanging on....Don't worry about it. As long as I don't fail anything, I'm good.'

I wrote in, 'How's math?'

He answered with a: 'Better...got a 73%......10th highest in the class....'

Téa asked a question soon after: 'What's the highest mark?'

Joey wrote in again quickly: 'Uh...89%....Tris is tied with the fifth highest mark.....Hopefully I got good on my finals.'

Yugi finally wrote in after being absent for a while: 'Yeah, we all do.'

Smiling, I leaned back in my chair. "So, the mutt's doing well?" Seto asked.

"Yup. Getting a seventy in math." I explained to him.

"And that's an improvement?"

"Ha! Improvement is an understatement! He went from low fifties to low seventies in one year!"

Yugi typed something in again. 'Elaya, in case you're wondering, Justi's fine. She's always asking about you.'

I wrote back, 'Yeah! Tell her I miss her!'

Téa added after me: 'Aww.....Yugi, have you asked Bakura yet about his Ring?'

Yugi answered the question with: 'Yeah. But he hasn't given me an answer yet. He keeps avoiding it by going offline.....every time I try to ask him, he just goes offline....'

Is that why Bakura went offline just now?

Joey typed in something: 'I don't get it. If the evil dude is dead, then the Ring is just an empty shell right?'

I typed, 'Maybe. You never know.'

"Elaya. Wrap it up. I need to work on something." Seto calls from beside me.

Sighing, I typed in, 'Guys, I hafta go now. Seto's being a little bitch and he won't let me stay on......So, I'll see you all later then? I'll e-mail you guys some junk later about our travel plans this summer....'

Yugi added his final thoughts: 'Alright! My grandpa IS going to Egypt with Professor Hopkins and he said that he can get some moretickets......but, remember that we are 'future archaeologists' that need training, okay? See you all later.....I gotta get back to studying.'

Téa signed off after replying: 'Ha! Okay, I'll ask my mom and whatever. See you guys!'

Joey and Tristan typed in a quick: 'Gotcha Yug! See ya!'

I signed out and sighed. We had this plan that we would be going to Egypt this summer with Yugi's grandpa to complete the ritual with Shadi to put Atem and the other spirits to rest........From what I know, Bakura has the Eye and the Ring and those are the two other Items that we need.....so once we get those items, we're good.

"Are you off yet?" Seto asked annoyed as I was still sitting in his chair.

"Uh, yeah." I mumbled as I walked around the desk. "Seto?"

"Mm?" He mumbled going to work and typing on the computer at lightning speeds.

"Yugi and I have to do this....this ritual.....where we need everyone there." I tried to explain. We had to get everyone who was a holder of the Item.....whether someone who was given the item by choice, like Ishizu, or a re-incarnate like myself. And, from what Justi once told me, Kaiba is the re-incarnate of Priest Seth who was the holder of the Millennium Rod all those millennia's ago. So, he needs to be there.

"Why me? You know that I don't believe in that hocus-pocus mumbo-jumbo." He retorted, eyes never leaving the screen.

"Kaiba....for, like, the billionth time, YOU ARE THE RE-INCARNATE OF PRIEST SETH! And, Seth-boy had the Millennium Rod so YOU NEED TO BE THERE!" I cried in frustration. I really don't know how many times I've told him this and how many times I told him that we will need him to complete the ritual.....and he still hasn't given me a straight answer.

"Yeah. I know."

"Well, will you come? The trip is practically paid for. Yugi's Grandpa is-- " I started.

"I know the plan. I can read." He responded smirking.

I faked a quick gasp. "How dare you eavesdrop on me! That's my job on you! Okay, seriously now, will you come?"

"Like I have a choice."

"You do have a choice.....You come willingly, or you come kicking and screaming." I joked. "This is the part where you laugh."

"Ha...no. How about Mokuba?" Seto asked. "I can't leave him by himself."

"He can come with I guess."

"I don't Mokuba to see some re-incarnation garbage going on. I don't want to poison his mind." Seto said coolly.

"Alright. Fine. He can stay in the hotel room with Yugi's Grandpa and Professor Hopkins or whoever stays behind." I concluded, thinking of something fast. "So, will you come?"

"Whatever." He blinked once, twice, and moved on with his work. "Get those books open. You still have three chapters to review for your finals."

"Thanks, Mother." I rolled my eyes, plopped myself on his bed, grabbed a book and began to read. "Solubility Rules; for 'Soluble Compounds'.....number one, 'All salts of the alkali metals are soluble'...number two--"

"In your head!" He yelled.

"Number two!" I shouted. "All ammonium salts are soluble!!" As I smiled, he glared at me.....and continued glaring until I stopped smiling. "Okay okay....sorry."

Ack! I can't believe it! Me and the others are gonna meet up again so soon! I can't wait to hear stories from their schools......in person.....a messenger service isn't that personal...Oh! I can't wait! Then, we're all going to Egypt and then.....and then I'll have to say 'bye bye' to Justi for good........

No! I have to stop being so negative...I'm meeting up with my friends again and that's good....Yup that's great!! Now, hopefully, Bakura will willingly give up his Ring to us.....I already sent him stuff, so he knows what's going on......Hmmm.....I wonder if he'll give up the Ring and Eye willingly....

-----Inside the Puzzle--Reader's POV----

"Hmmm....Dieen has failed again....Truly is a pity...." The voice said softly. He smirked in the darkness. "Oh well....Now I guess I'll take matters in my own hands....."

Walking up another stone staircase, he quickly ran into another patch of darkness to be unseen by the other spirit in the Puzzle. "With all of the Items in one place, taking them back will be easy.....Yes.....Then, I will have all seven of them to rule the world...."

The spirit softly laughed as he continued walking along another stone corridor into more darkness. "Fools.....All of them.....They haven't seen the last of me.....or Yami Marik for that matter..." Making sure he was out of earshot, he laughed manically as his white hair and brown eyes glistened the last ray of light that touched the corridor's shadow. "They haven't seen the last of me..."

---------

Firstly, all questions that Seto asked Elaya on Organic Chemistry came from a book that my uncle lent me called, 'Organic Chemistry: Principles and Structures'....Okay? Those answers actually exist and all that stuff...

[1] MSN Messenger is sorta like a chat room, but with people you know.....You have instant messaging from both parties and don't have to wait long for responses (unlike e-mails.....)

OMG! I'm back....AGAIN! (lol)

Alrighty.....THIS is the third part of my trilogy of 'The Millennium Scales'.....seriously, I didn't even know it would have a sequel! Well, this was the first chappie, but this story will have some massive updating lapses b/c of school and all....AND because I'm coming down with some severe writer's block. (UNCLEAN!!! UNCLEAN!!!)

Well, thanks to a wonderful gal named Jemmie (I LOVE YOU! hugs) I have thought up of an actual plot!--but it is still kinda fuzzy and stuff.....I'm hoping that this story will at least make it to the 20 chapter mark.....(I have to keep my stamina going....)

I say, THANK YOU for everyone who has read and/or reviewed TMS and TMS II: The Return of Evil....and I say, I'M SORRY for all, I repeat ALL grammar and spelling mistakes. (and yes, Aurora, ANYWAYS is a word in my book!!!) Hopefully, one day, I can actually edit my first two stories.....sigh

AnywayS, (Aurora!) hope you all enjoy the beginning of the FINAL story of my 'Millennium Scales' Trilogy.......I wonder if I'll make a fourth story.....(no wait...I can't....I still have to write that Inu-Yasha one! So many stories, so little time...)

PS Anyone here know how to use italics or bold? If certain things in this chappie are italics, ignore this.....

PLEASE REVIEW!
