Heero's face came nearer to Duo's. Almost reflexively, Duo leaned in, until
the past caught up and he pulled away with a jerk.
"Heero, what the hell are you doing? What are you trying to do to me? What are you trying to do to yourself? Get away!" Duo pushed against Heero's chest. Hard. Heero didn't move an inch.
Duo planted his hands firmly on Heero's chest and pushed again. Heero just pulled Duo back and kissed him firmly, not giving Duo any opportunity to pull away. When Duo managed to pull away, tears streaked his face. Heero just picked him up and hugged him close.
"Duo, have you ever really thought about what you told me? From what I heard I'd have to say that people don't die because of your love...they die in spite of it. Because, and believe me on this, your love would give them something to live for. So never tell me your love kills people you care for. Believe that it wasn't because of your love. Do you get this?" Heero shook Duo gently. "People don't die because of your love, as much as you want to believe it's true. They die in spite of your love, and your love could be the reason they hung on as long as they did."
"Promise that it's not because of me, Heero?"
"It's always been in spite of you and your love. I promise."
