Kingdom Hearts is such a deep complex story it's frustrating and beautiful and amazing all at once. This is my favorite game line ever.
Axel and Roxas
Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 358 Days/2 and Kingdom Hearts 2 and are great stories in which Roxas, Sora's nobody and Axel; a member of organization XIII, really Reno from FF7; are both Nobodies and sit wondering if their lives really exist and do they have hearts. As they sit pondering the meaning of their existence or lack of, you are led to believe, or see, do they realize they are building a friendship that goes deeper than both sharing similar circumstances? As they sit there watching the sunset, and Axel giving Roxas seasalt ice cream and talking even laughing together, there is an existence. For each of them has a different story and existences to unfold. One life will end, but with the knowledge of having a heart and a friend and another life will continue, parts to his story continuing to unfold and unravel the mystery of Kingdom Hearts.
Just a side thought, I think Axel's real name in story is Jose. Somebody called him that in one of the hidden scenes. Haha. All the Organization members had lives before they were pulled into the darkness. I believe. All except Xion.
