Head pounding. Awakening to general, constant sense of pain. Either he had a great time last night, or...
Logan opened his eyes, noting the gleaming laboratory equipment. Pity.
He cast his mind back ... some invasion ... Rogers summoning everyone ... a gliding ... gold … larger version of R2-D2...
The machine, or very similar looking cousin, glided up with a mechanical whirring accompaniment. A single camera on a rod looked up at him, dangling in mid-air. Since it felt exactly the same when Erik decided he'd had enough of his claws, he was going to go out on a limb and guess he was held in a magnetic containment field.
Another whirring earned his attention. Not a machine, a man, a scarred, emaciated man in black and a glowing blue marble in his forehead.
"Fascinating."
"Thanks. I work out." Logan kept scanning the area. "And you might be?"
"Forgive me." The man smiled. Sunken eye sockets and blackened tissues in his mouth. "My name is Davros. And since we are to be very good friends, we should observe the social niceties, at the very least."
"I told Jubilee I didn't need Facebook."
Davros touched a control on his ... wheelchair? "Davros to Supreme Dalek. Downgrade attack plans on Earth, recommend eliminating planet busters from stratagem entirely, with view to preserve potentially unique substances for future acquisition."
Logan rolled his eyes. "You're talkin' about the adamantium."
"Is that the name?" Davros rolled forward. "Enormous internal binding energies on the subatomic level; a lightweight metal that is virtually indestructible." Davros touched another control, Logan felt his claws snap out. "The only metal I know that can maintain a monomolecular edge." Davros met Logan's gaze again. "It is why you are still alive."
"You ordered these things to keep me alive."
"Oh no. My Daleks tried to kill you. It was only after their scanners picked up remaining microcellular activity that they brought you to me for study."
Another control revealed a holographic display of Logan's insides. "Despite the obvious reinforcement your 'adamantium' affords, it also protects you ..." A zoom in showed Logan's bones, their insides. "... that regenerative ability of yours, even that should have been destroyed by my Dalek's weapons. But there was still live tissue preserved within your bones. Enough to spread to the rest of you, heal you."
"Glad to hear it."
"Did you know your body fought off every organism I injected into you over the last few days?"
"I hope you're gonna spring for breakfast."
"Long, long ago, a man once asked me ... if I had an organism that could wipe out all life, would I use it? Of course, but possessing such a disease ... I have tried many, many times over to create something like he described, but what one race would find fatal, another would ignore ..."
Logan found himself lowering to meet Davros' glowing eye.
"... but I have never seen a natural immunity like yours, my friend. You are the perfect test subject for biological warfare. Once I discover the organism that can kill you, I will have the perfect weapon for my Daleks."
A mechanical hand touched Logan's face.
"Your death will be the birth of a brand new chapter in my Dalek's ultimate ascendance."
Definitely shouldn't have woken up today.
