This role he had to play was wearing on the Egyptian man. However it was his duty, he had been charged by the man he still thought of as his father to look after Marik and take every order.
It hadn't all been bad though. He…had met someone. Well, technically Marik had introduced them. A boy Marik's age by the name of Bakura Ryou who was possessed by a dark spirit. Marik had made a deal with this spirit, but it wasn't him that Rishid was interested in.
It was the boy the spirit was possessing.
Once he'd been able to sneak away to visit Ryou in the hospital that his spirit had put him in by stabbing his arm. The boy had been awake and himself. Rishid had introduced himself as the brother of the boy who'd save him, which to a point was true. They'd talked for a while, and Rishid had…well in easy words he'd fallen for him. He reminded him of Marik to an extent, but he was also different. He was kind, smart, and in a way, wise beyond his years.
Rishid found out about his family, how his sister and mother were dead and his father away in Egypt most of the time. How he was alone apart from his friends. Rishid talked about himself very little, but Ryou didn't pry.
But their time was limited, and after he had to leave the dark spirit had taken over and entered the finals. The next time he saw him, he was under the control of both Marik and his own dark spirit. It had hurt seeing him possessed like that, but he had to keep face.
Then…he had to do the hardest thing. Dark Bakura was dueling the pharaoh and loosing, really he'd lost. He was facing the power of Osiris. But Marik was smart, so he called for Rishid and told him what to say.
He almost broke face when Ryou was released from the possession. He was confused, and in pain. It took all of Rishid's considerable control to keep him from breaking cover and running to the hurting boy. But as he turned away he thought to himself.
"Lord Marik… The pain I am feeling in my heart is not from this cold wind whipping past me…"
