The sun radiated warmth across the beach, causing the sand to cast a soft sparkle. My eyes wandered around the beach, taking in my surroundings. Soft waves crashed across the sand, washing away anything that was written in the sand. Footprints were scattered across the sand, leading to different places in different directions. Shells decorated parts of the shoreline, glowing.

I inhaled, breathing in the ocean air. The best part about the beach was that it always reminded me of Percy. His arm was wrapped around my waist, giving me support. That's what it was always like. Without one, the other would fall.

We had decided earlier today to go to the beach, and it was his idea. I had agreed, thinking I could read while he swam. That's exactly what happened. His hand caressed my back and I sighed.

"Annabeth?" He asked, his sea green eyes dancing with the sunlight.

"Yes?" I raised my head from his shoulder and put down my book on the sand.

"Do you know why I love going to the beach with you so much?"

I studied his eyes. I had no idea where he was going with this. I slowly shook my head.

"Sometimes, in times like these, I pretend that we have all the time in the world. No monsters, just us and the sand. It feels amazing, but then, life hits us with something else we have to deal with." He answered.

"Elaborate." I motioned my hand for him to keep going.

"Why do we, out of all people, have the hardest life? I've always wished for us to have a normal life but-" He stopped and looked at me. "Do you feel that way?"

I frowned. His eyes were full of sorrow. I took a deep breath. "Percy, think about it. Yes, it would be nice to live a normal life and do normal things. But, for me, I think all the quests and challenges are what makes us, well, us. If that makes sense?"

Percy studied me intensely and his eyes softened. "Yes, it does, Wise Girl." He kissed my forehead, sending butterflies to my stomach.

"As for now, how about your wish is granted. Let's lounge on the beach for the rest on the day, pretending we have no worries. Like a normal couple." I smiled at him. He shot me a lopsided grin and his eyes sparkled.

"So your saying that we are not a normal couple?" He raised an eyebrow.

I gave him a look as if to say, duh!

"Well, actually, you're not the normal one in this relationship." I reasoned, watching his expression.

"Oh, Wise Girl, you're going to wish you never said that." He flipped me over so I was laying on the sand and his hands were holding my wrists to the ground. I glared at him and he laughed.

I struggled and laughed when he tickled me. "Percy Jackson, let go of me n-" I was cut off by a kiss.

He suddenly turned serious and his eyes searched mine. "I love you." He said quietly but loud enough for me to be heard.

My eyes widened and my heart beat fast. We had been dating for a while now but none of us had ever told the other that before. He seemed to notice my hesitation and he had a look of disappointment.

"If you don't, that's oka-" It was my turn to cut him off with a kiss.

"No, Seaweed Brain. I love you too."
