"Hey Magnus?"
"Yes, darling?"
"We should get a dog."
"Absolutely not."
Alec looked up at Magnus with minor difficulty, a slight pout on his face. The two were tangled together in a heap of limbs on the couch, impossible to tell where one boy ended and the other began. "Why not?" Alec asked, shifting some in an attempt to dislodge Magnus's knee from his stomach.
"I'm quite positive that one animal in the household is quite enough," Magnus said.
"But we've got two," Alec said confusedly, thinking of the fish that Magnus got from some market, living in a little fish bowl in the kitchen. Alec suddenly wondered if the fish was even still alive; he was quite sure that Magnus had forgotten all about it and it hadn't been fed in days.
"Oh, yes, Roger! I almost forgot about him. Well, he hardly counts as a pet. He doesn't even do anything besides swim around in a bowl all day," Magnus scoffed, shaking his head. "He's boring."
"You named the fish Roger?" Alec asked, raising his eyebrows and unintentionally changing the subject.
"Well, yes. He's got to have a name, doesn't he?"
"Yeah, but you chose Roger?"
"Obviously. Is there something wrong with the name?"
"It's just..."
"Just what?"
"Nevermind. So, about the dog... Can we get one? Maybe a young puppy?" Alec gave his best puppy dog face, - which was, admittedly quite pathetic, but he didn't know that. Magnus figured that Alec was like a puppy himself, so really they didn't need one, but he didn't dare say it out loud.
"I thought I already said no."
"Please?"
"You're not going to give this up, are you?" Magnus asked, frowning.
"No."
Yeah, no idea where this came from, but okay... Haha. Enjoy!
