Framed Sickness

IT was a warm day in savannah. My aunt had been arrested for a crime she didn't committed. She was locked away and I was with the EMS. We were headed to a prison for training, Still I was worried about her. When I entered the prison Mrs. Janice immediately took me to the medical isolation. There I was mad to go to the cell of a sickly woman. She was turned away so I l couldn't see her face but her body was thin and her arms and legs were boney. When she turned I saw her sickly face and pregnant belly.

"Aunt Mel is that you? How did you get here?" I asked

"Yes Angel, wait why are you here?" She asked weakly. I walked into the cell and hugged her. She gripped me weakly. After a moment she let go. She laid back weakly. I began to check her. I was worried.

"Aunt Mel how are they treating you?" I asked.

"Not well Angel." She replied weakly but sadly.

"Why what's going on Aunt Mel?" I asked

"The guards, they do horrible things to me after lights out." She sobbed weakly. She sobbed before vomiting blood.

"When did this start?" I asked.

"This morning." She choked weakly after a cough. I was shocked and angry. To think that my aunt was going through this was infuriating. I wanted them to pay. She came through. I had to tend to her.

"Aunt Mel how could they do this to you?" I asked

"It's too dark to see Angel." She said weakly. That was enough. Someone had to do something. I did all I could do. I radioed Mrs. Janice, informing her of the situation. To no surprise she was infugated by this. She immediately went to the jailor. She promptly brought him in. Unfortunately, it was obvious he was paid off.

"You see how she's she's being treated. This is unacceptable." Janice said angrily.

"Mrs. Lucas I assure you, Ms. Chisholm, is receiving the best possible care." The jailor said callously.

"I'm an EMT and I know a thing or two about care. This is subpar at best." She replied. The jailor hurriedly led Mrs. Janice away. This left me and Melanie again. She was sobbing. I just hugged her gently. She just held me momentarily weakly.

"It'll be alright Aunt Mel, we'll make everything better." I assured.

"I'm so scared Angel." She sobbed clinging to me weakly
