The Doctor and Stacie Frost

Part 1

Stacie Frost opened the front door to her house, reached for the iron knob and twisted it clockwise. She pushed hard and stepped outside. The sun glared down on her and the cold breeze swept around her. She walked in her dress suit to the bus stop where she waited.

She looked at her brand new Casio watch. It read 8:33. She'd missed it. Stacie knew that the next bus would be in half an hour, by which time she'd definitely be late, so she got up from the bus bench and started pacing towards the main road.

That was when she heard it.

It was a low, loud, whistling sound like the wind, but more musical.

Stacie turned the corner and stopped. In her way, there stood a box. A deep blue, old fashioned police phone box. She looked at it vaguely but carried on briskly walking. She paused and gazed at her watch again. 8:37. She needed to be at work at 8:55, that was in 18 minutes and it was at least a 25 minute walk meaning that she would GET to work at 9:02.

Too late. She turned around and considered going back to the bus stop. That was the first time she properly looked at it. She'd never seen a phone box like it. All the ones that she always saw in inner city London were small, red and had more windows that were all see through.

Without thinking she knocked on the door. 1. 2. 3.

In a flash, the door opened and she gasped and let out a tiny scream. It was bigger on the inside. She looked in and saw a copper orange colour everywhere. It reminded her of caramel. Carefully, she ventured in.

"Ah," she heard a voice, "Hello."
