Rose Tyler piled the grocery bags into the back of her car. The balmy mist of an early summer rain surrounded her. She had been on this bloody parallel Earth for two months, and she still felt hollow, emotionless. She was existing, but she wasnt living. Rose sighed as she slammed the door and opened the other to get in. She thrust the keys into the ignition and the car roared to life. She flicked the vent to waft more cool air toward her. She closed the door and leaned back onto the seat numbly. She slowly fastened the seatbelt around her waist and put the car into reverse. Look at me, she thought. Once, I was Rose Tyler, defender of the Earth. Look where I am now.
It was hard for Rose not to drag herself into the darkness and depression that threatened to succumb her. She was so lonely, so bored. She missed him. The Doctor, the man she loved more than anything else in all the galaxies of the universe. She would give up anything, do anything, to be back with him. Rose's eyes were fixed on the road as she sped along it.
The silence was deafening. Rose turned a knob and turned on the radio. Piano tones and a soft, feathery voice filled her ears.
I'm about to lose my mind...
You've been gone for so long.
I'm running out of time,
I need a doctor...
