Alex and her family have moved back to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania since they moved 3 years ago when their father was killed by American soldiers in the army.
"Mom please don't make me move back to Pittsburgh, it brings back so many bad memories!"
On her first day in her English class, Alex becomes partners with a boy named Eli and they instantly become friends.
"Hi I'm Alex" I said in to the boy's sparkling green eyes, "I'm Eli"
Alex finds out that Eli's father was killed in the army too, and that their fathers were enemies.
"My father was killed by Spanish soldiers while he was in the army" Eli said with a depressed tone, "wait did your father's name happen to be Steve?" I asked curiously, "Yes, why?" he said confused, "I think our fathers were enemies"
Now Alex and Eli must set aside their fathers' rivalry and try to keep their friendship strong
