Everything I needed to know, I learned in football
I learned to run through a tire.
I learned to play with lots of fire!
I learned when to pass and when to run.
I learned my heart must have fun!
I learned to block and to hit.
I learned when to stand, and when to sit!
I learned about tackles and about sacks.
I learned about lineman and about backs.
I learned about the fundamental stuff.
I learned when it means to be tough!
I learned how to play the game.
I learned I'd never be the same!
I learned to talk and to listen.
I learned how much I had been missin'.
I learned I'm only one of the spokes.
I learned it takes LOTS of folks!
I learned about you and me.
I learned I have a family tree!
I learned to take all things in stride.
I learned to feel arrow pride.
I learned there are many who care.
I learned that life's not always fair!
I learned about qualities- big and small
I learned to embrace them, one and all!
I learned from my coaches, and the rest.
I learned how to be my very best!
And now, I'm a better person having been through it all!
And I owe it to the game of football!
