As the ship continued on it journey to the unknown, Eragon immersed himself into reliving his whole life. For each and every situation he asked himself if he could of done anything different. If I had been closer to Murtagh and Ajhaad maybe Ajhaad wouldn't be dead and Murtagh, never enslaved. Little One don't you think that Murtagh's incredibly grateful he was captured? It allowed him to meet Thorn. Yes but all the pain he went through... Eragon she cut him off We've been journeying for days and all you've done is mope about the deck, whining about how you messed up. Her anger shook the ship, It is not as if we are leaving forever, Saphira pointed out. Yes we are, remember Angela's prophecy... Yes yes yes, she said you would leave and never return. But did she say what time in your life you would leave and never return? How do you know that last peace of the prophecy won't happen for hundreds of years. Surprise and relief flooded through Eragon. She's probably right the prophecy did not say what point in my life it was to happen. Now Little One you should retire for the evening, we have a grand adventure ahead of us!
Eragon arose early and with more vigor then he had the entire journey. He pulled on a tunic and some trousers and sprang out onto the deck. He was surprised, to see almost all the elves sitting on the deck, most were conversing with the Eldulnri. Blodharm noticed him and bid an open space next to him. " Well, Shadeslayer, you are looking more joyful," Blodharm pointed out. "Yes," he grinned, "Saphira gave me some advice." Blodharm dipped his head, his sharp teeth showing. "It is a great thing to see knowledge pass through the bond of dragon and rider. Something that we will be seeing often, Shadeslayer" Eragon agreed. For the first time he noticed a medium size Eldulnri sitting in Blodharm's lap. He nodded in the direction of the red orb, "How is that one doing? Better than most," he sighed "he no longer attacks anyone just for the sake of it, but he is still confused, very confused." He nodded and chewed over the information, "And the others are worse?" he asked, afraid of the answer. "Not all of them, but I fear some will never recover. But most will," he said rushing to reassure Eragon.
"And the eggs? It isn't healthy for them to stay in for too long, so we will have to send the oldest eggs back to Algaesia first. I agree." Eragon stood up to leave,"I think I will bond more eggs for future riders. Good-bye, Shadeslayer." Eragon proceeded down into the cargo hold where the eggs and their guardian Cuorac were staying. Out of all the eggs only twenty-six were set to bond with Riders. First, he approached a large white egg. Glaedr, will you instruct me on how to bond the eggs? Yes, but only after you swear an oath in the ancient language that you will not bond more than half of the eggs. Confused Eragon said, Very well, but why... Glaedr cut him off, Where we are going there must be wild dragons as well. Eragon swore he would not bond more than half of the eggs. Very well, rumbled Glaedr, I will tell you.
By the time Eragon had finished his task, it was near midnight. Well thats forty more riders to be born, he thought overflowing with satisfaction.Saphira contacted him and he immediately opened his mind. I am proud of you Little One you were able to set your feelings behind you and work for the good of our future students. You should go to sleep, almost all the elves are asleep. Really, so they do sleep. I've been trying to find that out for months. Saphira snorted in exasperation, what does it take for you to go to sleep? He grinned, A lot.
