We entered city limits of Seattle, everything was out of place, random fires everywhere and some dead zombies laying on the ground. I snarled my nose at them, but still having the fear of those things in the back of my mind made me shiver. I was in the passenger seat of the hummer like always, Claire was driving, "Why do we need to go through here again?" I asked while looking out the window, the sun was going down, that's not good.
Claire looked over at me, "We need more canned food, there has to be something here." I nodded and turned to look at her, "The sun's going down though, do you think this is safe?" Claire turned into what looked like a wal-mart. "It's a quick stop, so it should be safe, you want to come with me on this one?" What Claire had said blew me away, she never asked me to go with her, it was always stay here in the hummer. "Yea." I said nodding.
I began to reach for the handle, Claire's hand rested on my shoulder, " Stick as close to me as possible, you understand? You're safe as long as you stick with me okay?" I nodded, "I know, stick with you and as close to you as possible." Claire let go of my shoulder and got out of the hummer, I followed and closed my door lightly. It was just me and her, the convoy stayed out in the dessert, couldn't risk all of them.
How was I the lucky one to go? Normally it would be Carlos to go, I could hear Claire's voice in my head, "It's too dangerous for you." I shook my head as I stood there looking at the wal-mart. "Earth to K-mart?" I looked around and saw Claire was at the back of the hummer, "Oh, sorry." I scrambled to where she stood, there was an array of weapons to choose from, "Wait, me handle a gun?" I asked, my eyes wide with nervousness. Everything became blurry, Claire vanished, I was left there by myself.
I heard Claire's voice from far away, I looked around and zombies came running towards me, I ran as fast as I could to the voice. "Don't leave me!" I began to cry, I couldn't get any closer to her, but the zombies did. One grabbed my leg and dragged me down, I fell and slammed my head against the concrete, I awoke.
