Serge wiped the sweat from her brow. It was a muggy day and she was busy doing the armies chores.

I'll never get everything done. The army always expects me to do everything and I can't turn them down. They're counting on me.

It was difficult being the domestic type in the army because then you were stuck with the dirty jobs more often than not. Serge stared at the pile of dirty dishes and sighed. The water she used was already cold and dirty. She would need to carry a barrel down to the river, fill it, bring it back, and boil it just to finish the dishes.

"Why me!?" She screamed at the sky with her head tilted back.

Someone's laughter made her face burn with anger. She whipped around armed with a wooden spoon to smack whoever dared to mock her anguish.

"How dare you mock—" Serge stopped midsentence when she saw that Sol had a new barrel full of steaming water ready.

She hid the wooden spoon behind her back and smiled.

"Sol….that's very sweet of you, but you prepared the food. It wouldn't be right for you to clean up after putting so much work into feeding everyone."

Sol's cheerful face didn't change as he set the barrel down beside her.

"We all have a place in this army. It just so happens that you and I work a little harder."

The two laughed at Sol's lame joke. Sol had that effect on Serge. He always knew how to make her laugh. He was a kind soul, too kind for a soldier. She wondered why he was even fighting this war.

"Sol? What motivates you?"

Sol thought about it to himself. "What exactly to you mean?"

"What are you fighting for?"

"That's a silly question. I fight for Iris' ideals. I fight for my friends. I fight for our future. I imagine it's the same for everyone in this army. Why do you ask?"

Such a stupid question, Serge. What was I thinking?

"I guess I thought since you were so kind and gentle that you would hate fighting."

Sol started cleaning dishes while they talked.

"I don't think anyone truly enjoys fighting. I do it to protect the people I love."

It was nice to be reminded of why they fought.

"Thank you for answering. Sometimes I let the bad stuff get the best of me."

Serge gasped when Sol hugged her tightly.

"I hate to hear you talk like this. I don't want you to hurt anymore. I try to be positive for everyone. Let me be extra positive for you, ok?"

Serge hugged him back and smiled. She felt right in his arms. "I can't explain it but it's like you wash away my fears and doubt. Will you stay near me…always?"

They parted and Sol held her face gently. "I won't leave you. I'll protect you from everything."

Serge laughed as she wiped her eyes. "I'm such a baby when it comes to these moments. I love you, Sol. I have for a long time I just didn't know it until now."

Sol leaned down for a kiss. He didn't have to tell her he loved her. She felt it in his kiss. Serge no longer had to fear because her knight would be there with her. There was more at stake now than ever before.

Now all she had to do was convince Minerva that Sol wasn't something for her to eat.

Author's Note: Obviously the two have had more interactions in the past. Sol likes to cook and Serge usually does all the household, domestic chores so the two are naturally together a lot. This is late into the war so if it seems fast and out of the blue it isn't :D I love this pairing and I hope that once the game comes out more people will too SolxTiamo is much better but since these two have so much in common I thought I would write a little fluff for them.
