Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When every-thing's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When every-thing's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When every-thing's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When every-thing's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
The lies fall from his lips but he doesn't believe them anymore than I do. He says he hates me and stomps away but in that moment that our eyes connected I could see the hurt and need in them. I want to help but I don't know how. I would do anything to see him smile just once.
I find him that night, huddled in a corner, his blood pooling around him. He looks up at me and I can see all the despair of the world in his eyes. The blade falls from his hand and a sob escapes from his lips. I move closer but am stopped when he speaks.
"I just want you to know who I am." He slumps back against the wall and I rush to him. His pulse is sluggish and his breathing is uneven. I pick him up and race to the hospital wing, a bloody trail behind me.
He recovers quickly and is released from the hospital. I mostly see him in passing and only once he tries to rile me up and fight, but a look in his eyes stops me dead. His words echo in my head and I turn and walk away.
I am surprised to see him at the tower, gazing off into the night as I so often do. Without turning he speaks. "And I don't want the world to see me 'cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am."
He turns then and walks toward me. He takes my face in his hands and kisses my lips. He pulls back and looks into my eyes. A smile lights his face before he turns back around. I wrap my arms around his waist and watch as he smilingly looks out into the approaching dawns light with new hope shining in his eyes.
