I told you guys I'd have another update this weekend! And here it is, something short and sweet! Appealshipping goodness!
I don't own Pokemon, are you crazy! That's like trying to beat Chuck Norris in a fight!
Sunrise
Sunlight crept through the opening of a tent, warming the face of a redheaded teen. Slowly, she opened her eyes and blinked.
"What…?" She sat up quickly, noting an empty sleeping bag to her right. She closed her eyes, racking her brain for an explanation.
'Yesterday… oh that's right! Last night was the first night Dawn and I spent together traveling. That explains it!' Zoey's eyes shot open and she smiled to herself, a night full of jokes and stories around a glowing campfire replaying in her memory.
'But where's Dawn now?' She sighed and grabbed a pair of jeans sitting on her backpack and pulling them on over her boxers closely followed by her boots. She stood up and stretched, which earned a few pops from her back, before she crawled out of the already open tent. As she took a few steps outside, her boot connected with a misplaced rock and she tumbled forward into the lap of her blue haired companion.
"Oh, sorry!" Zoey said as she laid nose-to-nose with Dawn, who had fallen backwards with the newly added weight.
"It's okay." Zoey pushed herself up and held her hand out to Dawn, lifting her off the ground and back into her previous sitting position, a blanket wrapped tightly around her shoulders.
"No really, I should have been watching where I was going. What're you doing out here anyway?" Zoey asked as she sat next to Dawn, who offered part of the blanket to her.
"I… like sunrises." Dawn mumbled, embarrassed. Zoey gave her a sweet smile.
"Me too, actually. I was just so tired from last night that I didn't get up my normal time." She said as she wrapped the blanket around her own shoulders and Dawn blushed. (A/N- No, they didn't do it!! They just had a fun time together as friends!! Perverts...)
"Yeah, I had fun last night too. I'm glad we're traveling together." Zoey nodded and both their attentions were turned back to the sunrise.
"This is great." Zoey whispered.
"Yeah, I've loved sunrises ever since I was little. My dad and I used to get up every morning just to watch the sunrise. Then my dad died… but I still got up every morning." Dawn smiled sadly, her gaze never leaving the golden orb slowly rising on the horizon.
"Around when I first started traveling, I saw the sunrise for the first time in my life and I realized that it was the second most beautiful thing I had ever seen. After that, I started getting up early to watch the sun rise with my Pokemon and then we would go train." Dawn turned her attention away from the sunrise to Zoey.
"Oh really? What's the first most beautiful thing you've ever seen?" She asked timidly as Zoey turned to her.
"Y-You." Zoey admitted, a nervous stutter finding its way into her mouth. An awkward silence washed over them.
"Oh." A blush crept over Dawn's face as Zoey looked down.
"Yeah, I know this is kind of weird… sudden… whatever, but I really do like you. It was partially the reason I asked you to travel with me." Both girls' faces were red at this point. Dawn took a deep breath.
"One thing I told my dad before he died was that I wanted my first kiss to be with someone as we watched the sunrise together and I still want that… to this day." Zoey looked at Dawn with surprise as she leaned towards the redhead and their lips brushed. But before Dawn could pull away, Zoey's arms snake around her neck and pull her closer as the sun became completely visible over the horizon.
