Faced with death, Laniey is saved by a mysterious stranger. When she is taken in by his group, she can't seem to find a way to thank him. Even if she could, she had a feeling that he wouldn't want to hear it. Throughout the apocalypse, Lainey feels that fighting through Daryl's walls will be the biggest challenge she faces rather than the starving walkers only a breath away

Shadows - Introduction

As my heart pounded frantically, I felt the fear invade every part of my body. No matter what happened, there was no way I was getting out of this. Walkers from every side of me were closing in and the only way out was over a cliff that would have me plunging straight for my death if I was to take my chances and jump. As I stood there, my mind beginning to accept that I was going to die here within the next few minutes, I allowed myself to decide which way I was going to go. I sure as hell wasn't going to let the enemies I had been fighting against over that past year kill me. I'd rather commit suicide. With that thought in my mind, I blocked out the sound of gnashing teeth and took it upon myself to take the last few steps backwards that would end this torment. As I took my last breath before making the jump, a warm and rough hand closed around my wrist and I screamed, alerting probably thousands more walkers of my whereabouts.
