Ch. 1: Storm Streak
"So you're going to Wonderbolts Academy? For a year?!" Pinkie Pie shrieked, tears streaming out of her eyes.
Rainbow Dash groaned and rolled her eyes.
"Don't worry, Pinkie Pie. I'll write to you all as often as I can, plus Lightning Dust wasn't invited for a full-time scholarship!" Rainbow Dash laughed.
"We'll sure miss ya once your gone, Rainbow." Applejack sighed.
"Be sure to visit us sometimes!" Twilight grinned.
Rainbow Dash patted her saddlebag and nodded.
"Don't you worry! I'll be fine!" she said, flying over the horizon.
As soon as the five ponies disappeared from sight, Rainbow Dash began doing stunts and flying around doing loops. Once the academy appeared into sight, Rainbow Dash landed smoothly on the soft clouds.
"Ah, welcome back Rainbow Dash!" Spitfire greeted.
Rainbow Dash grinned and shook hooves eagerly with Spitfire.
"I'll do my best this year, ma'am!" she promised.
Spitfire nodded and gestured to a pegasus pony over to her left.
"Might wanna meet Storm Streak, she's been a year-round student at the academy ever since she was a filly," Spitfire winked at a pegasus with an aquamarine coat and vivid cobalt blue eyes.
"Yeah sure, just as soon as I drop down everything at my dorm." Rainbow Dash replied, distracted by a crowd of pegasus showing off their moves.
She raced over to a large five story building and dashed inside.
"Just how I remembered it!" Rainbow Dash grinned, remembering the last time she walked in these halls.
She took out a card out of her saddlebag and rode the elevator up to the third floor. As soon as Rainbow Dash found room thirty-six, she scanned her card and burst into the room.
I wonder what my roommate will be like! She thought.
When she entered though, no one was inside.
"Oh well, I'll meet them later," Rainbow Dash shrugged.
She set down her things and gazed out the window. There she saw a pony doing triple loop-the-loops and clearing clouds at the speed of light! A trail of yellow thunderbolts zipped from behind the pony as she landed straight down onto the clouds.
Oh yeah? I'll show her! Rainbow Dash thought.
She zipped out of the building and towards the crowd.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"Storm Streak is like, the best pegasus flier in like, all of like, Equestria! Just like, look at her!" a pony with a hot pink mane replied.
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and flew up to Storm Streak.
"Hey! I challenge you to a race!" Rainbow Dash shouted.
Storm Streak spun around and a confident smile appeared on her face.
"I like your guts. Sure, I'll be happy to challenge you! I'm Storm Streak, Wonderbolt-to-be!" Storm Streak grinned, holding out her hoof.
Rainbow Dash shook Storm Streak's hoof and flew straight up. She sparked an idea and used her rainbow trail to spell out 'RAINBOW DASH' in bold capital letters.
When Rainbow Dash flew back down, the crowd was applauding.
"Nice, Rainbow Dash. By the way, by any chance are you staying in room thirty-six?" Storm Streak asked.
Rainbow Dash nodded excitedly then asked:
"Are you too?"
"Yep!" Storm Streak replied.
"Let's hang out some time!" Rainbow Dash suggested.
"How about now? School starts a week from now, so we'll have plenty of time to get to know each other!" Storm Streak exclaimed.
"Sure!" Rainbow Dash nodded.
