It's been a long two weeks for Belle. Right after she was reunited with the love of her life, he collapsed from a blackened heart. The Aprentice did a spell to cleanse his heart, but he said it would be a while before he woke again. And who knows if he'd be the same man when - if - he woke up. So Belle had her schedule full - work the library in the morning, the pawn shop in the evenings, then back home to check on Rumple and stay by his side until she had to do it all over again. When her friends heard of the full schedule she was working, they came to her aid. Ruby would bring her lunch and Henry would help her out in the pawn shop. Will helped, too, by watching the library in the afternoon.
One evening, after closing the pawn shop early, Belle was so ready to hop in the shower, but not until she checked on her husband. To her surprise, she found him awake. He was looking around, disoriented, but she was just so overjoyed he was awake once again.
"Rumple! I'm so glad you're okay!" Belle said as she ran to his side and held his hand as she sat on the edge of the bed. He tried to speak, but his throat was so dry that it only caused him pain.
"I'll get you some water." Belle hurried to the kitchen and poured a glass of water and brought it up to Rumple. He sipped from the glass and tried to speak once more.
"Are... Did someone send you?" He asked.
"What? No. No one sent me." Belle answered.
"You are so beautiful." Rumple admitted. Belle smiled. "Really," Rumple continued. "You are the prettiest woman I've ever seen. Are you a princess?" Belle couldn't hide the grin on her face.
"No, I'm not a princess. But I'm going to be right here with you." Belle told him. It was nice he was paying her compliments, but it seemed he had lost his memory of who she was. She should probably call someone to see if there was anything that could be done for that. Until then, she had to make sure he was feeling good.
"Keep drinking that water. You were asleep for a long time. You need to rehydrate yourself." Rumple did as she said, but couldn't keep his eyes off her.
"So what's your name?" He asked asfter swallowing a gulp of water.
"I'm Belle. I'm your wife." At that, Rumple's eyes went wide.
"You are my wife?" He asked, completely shocked.
"Yes."
"Wow." Rumple sat in bed completely dumbfounded. "Do we have kids?"
"No." Belle answered. "Not yet..." The thought of having children with him sent butterflies in her stomach. She knew he was much older than her, but could it be possible? She was sure with magic and True Love, anything was possible. Then again, maybe it was best he stayed away from magic for a while.
"Have we kissed yet?" Rumple asked. The question caused Belle to giggle. This innocent version of her Rumple was just too precious.
"Yes, we have." Belle grinned.
"So... how long have we been married?" Rumple asked.
"For a few months." Belle said.
"Wow." Rumple said again. "I hit the jackpot."
"Keep drinking your water." Belle said in an attempt to shut him up or she would end up laughing until tears rolled down her face.
"I'm married to the most beautiful woman in the wrold." Rumple said to himself, still not believing his luck. "Let me see your face." He had a hand on her cheek and she leaned into its warmth. "You are perfect." he whispered.
Now, Belle couldn't hide her laughter. Her cheeks were bright red as she buried her face into his chest. She felt his hand run through her hair.
"We're married?!" Rumple asked once more.
"Yes!" If he was going to be like this for a while, Belle figured it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. At least she knew he still loved her, even when he didn't know who she was.
"I'm the luckiest man on Earth." Belle heard Rumple say to himself. She kissed his cheek and the smile that came afterwards was the happiest she'd ever seen him.
