I decided to make something about Karen's relations with her employers.
Now, I don't want to say that she didn't care for Urich or anyone else, besides Matt and Foggy, but I wanted to focus mostly on these two.
Protected at all cost
She grew to love working in "Nelson and Murdock". Maybe in her previous job she was paid better, but in the current one she felt like at home.
Big part of it was obviously the fact that her employers were the nicest persons she ever knew. Sweet, caring, funny and always optimistic. Not only did they take her case, when she was wrongly accused of murder; not only did they take her into their firm as a secretary, when she had no place to go, but they also helped her feel safe again. When she was coming to the office and meeting with them, it felt like a shelter to her, like a safe bay. Like nothing bad could ever happen in this little bureau of theirs.
In Union Allied she didn't know her bosses, nor the big part of employees. Most of her co-workers she knew were only on the floor she was working on, and even with them she was hardly speaking. The only person she was getting along in her previous workplace was Daniel Fisher. And this relationship ended badly.
In "Nelson and Murdock" she knew perfectly every person working there. Mainly because there were actually only three workers, including her herself. She was meeting with her two bosses on daily basis, she was talking with them, she was joking with them, she was going out with them to the bars. Sitting in this little office, with those two, felt homey.
She loved her bosses. She loved the fact that Foggy was this constantly joking goofball. She loved the fact that Matt was this calm, optimistic guy with whom you thought that everything will be okay. She loved the fact that they both were such a good friends, since the law school. She loved the fact that they both had this strong conviction to just help everyone in need.
She felt that she was a part of something bigger and better. Matt and Foggy decided that they won't be those attorneys who will be defending big firms for large amount of cash. No. They will be protecting innocent, even if said innocents had no money whatsoever. And Matt and Foggy were determined to fight for truth and justice. Yes, it wasn't simple and there were times when all three of them felt resignation sipping through their bones. But it was a fight worth fighting and she wouldn't change it for anything else.
Matt took her out of the arrest and let her sleep in his apartment. Foggy took her to the bar and assured that everything will be fine. When she bought an old office equipment on auction, she felt that they will be mad, but Foggy was actually happy. From the moment they entered her life, they were helping her.
It hurt to see them furious with each other. It hurt to see them miserable. It hurt to see them in any harm. Such a sweet, caring people should never suffer. Such sweet, caring people deserved only happiness.
For the first time in forever she had a purpose and it was thanks to these two.
"But you won't be the first to die, miss Page. No, I think mister Urich will have that honor. Then we will go to your place of employment to see mister Nelson and mister Murdock. And after that your friends, and family and everyone you ever cared about…"
Her bosses were the nicest persons she ever knew. And they had to be protected at all cost.
