Trapped in Innocence

The blood of souls is upon my lips

I am only a child

The blood of souls is upon my lips

I live in a world made solely of red.

Nothing I would do

Can atone fro the things I've done.

Though they don't really bother me anymore,

These things I must do,

My soul is crying out to my stolen humanity

In the anguished voice of the undead.

This nightmare cannot be escaped

I am only a child

This nightmare cannot be escaped

Trapped forever within my innocence

Cursed with knowledge of things

I would rather leave unsaid.

Things weren't supposed to turn out this way,

But they have.

Alone with you I have accepted this.

It breaks the very spirit

Of all that remains of my humanity.

I dine frequently with death

I am only a child

I dine frequently with death

At the mention of my name people shudder in fear,

Wonder how someone could be so cruel.

Do I really have a soul at all?

Am I nothing but a heartless demon?

I cannot help what I must do

I cannot stop the shedding of innocent blood

I cannot even stop the shedding of my own silent tears.

Alone in this world of red

I am only a child

Alone in this world of red

Some claim to be my friend

Would they be so kind if they knew my secrets?

I cannot become close to anyone

I may hurt them too.

No more pain

No more sacrifice

If only it could be stopped.

I will not abandon my duties

You are all I have.

You are bound by silence

I am only a child

You are bound by silence

So still, though we are together,

We are alone.

Different worlds hold our pasts,

But our destinies lie down the same dark path.

I love you; I cannot.

You are bound by the blood and I too it.

Perhaps someday we'll escape this prison.

I am tired of fighting myself.

Trapped forever in innocence

With knowledge better left unsaid

I am only a child

Trapped forever in my innocence

With knowledge better left unsaid.
