In a Flash

This is my first story, its an Ace Combat story about a pilots last few seconds of life... enjoy, and please, be merciful...
Disclaimer: I do not own Ace Combat, it's not mine... neither are the characters...
In a flash...
He felt the blow and his stomach heaved... he looked at his wing... it was a fireball, smoke streaming behind him...
Everything was spinning, round and round so fast... "Dammit!!!" he screamed to himself as he pulled on the eject lever, but no avail, he was stuck...He was thrown into a state of shock as he saw the ground get ever closer, and his comrades in the sky fly ever farther away. The pilot's mind started racing, he had thoughts of the enemy, wondering which of them had doomed him, then to thoughts about his mother. She was the only person he would miss, everyone else had ignored him almost entirely all his life, and he said aloud, "I'm gonna miss you, Mom..." Suddenly, an unbearable sorrow seemed to eat his guts away all at once. The earth below was getting closer, but it seemed like time had stopped entirely, to him, what was only a few seconds seemed like hours, but then he saw how close the he was to his death, he realized what he had to do.
He reached under the seat, and retrieved his handgun, given only one bullet, only at that moment did he understand exactly why, and he gave a grim chuckle as he cocked the gun, and in that second, made his peace with God. As he kissed his crucifix for the last time, he drew a breath and closed his eyes...
And in a flash... it was all over...

A/N: This was my first one, just a shortie to get myself started in writing... alittle bit sloppy probably, but at the time im finishing this up, its about 2:30 in the morning... so you'll have to forgive me for that. I can't say this was my best work ever, but there will be more... und they will be better. Read and review anyway, danke...
for those who DON'T understand... pilots in WW1 were given a revolver with a single bullet to commit suicide rather than be burned to death or crash... I know that pilots are given a full mag now, but it was for the story...
