Hrm...I this wrote the day before my AP exam. I probably was super angsty and nervous, and as a result, my writing is probably weird and bad. I found that it takes my mind off the test. It's probably full of crack or fluff, or what not. I always get those terms mixed up.
Thanks for reading!
"Are you ready?"
"Yes."
"Are you in any way nervous?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Absolutely positive."
He let go of her thin shoulders and sat back down at the table, but never let his gaze off her. "Are you sure?"
"Kyouya," she said, with a roll of her eyes, "you've been saying that for the last five minutes. Yes, I'm sure. In fact, I'm very sure."
"I'm just making sure. It wouldn't be good if you regretted it later and wanted to get out of it. It's bad for public image. I just want to know if you really want to marry me."
"Really now," she replied sarcastically.
"Yes, really. Is this what you really want? Are you going to be happy?"
She raised her eyebrow and peered at his handsome face. "Of course I am. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't, right? Really, Kyouya, you're sounding like Tamaki-senpai."
"Right," he forced himself to say. How degrading - to be compared to that blonde.
Haruhi did a double take. Was that…uncertainty she just heard? "Wait…unless, it so happens that the great Ohtori Kyouya is scared of getting married and just doesn't want to admit it?"
"What an absurd thing to say, Haruhi."
She shrugged. "Just checking."
He looked into her eyes. "Can you say it?"
"Say what?"
"You know…that."
"Oh," she nodded understandably. "Of course. Can't you?"
"Of course."
"Then say it." She was challenging him. A rare occurrence, but it happened sometimes. After so many years together in their relationship, she knew what to expect out of him – although there were some surprises very now and then.
"We'll be saying it later," he said, too defensively. A mistake.
She was onto him. Giving a wry smile, she said, "Aha…so you are scared."
"Are you implying that you are not?"
"I've said nothing of the kind."
"Why don't you say it, then. Ladies first," he said.
So she said it. She said it simply. She said it in the same tone of voice that she would have said, "Pass the spinach." She said it just as the Haruhi he knew would have said it.
The way she said it made it look too easy.
"I do." She reached her hand across the table and held onto his hand. "Can you say it? It's just two little words."
"I can say it," he replied evenly, holding onto the hand that he never wanted to let go of. "I'm just saving it for the altar."
