worlds apart
Whirlwinds of dust and debris blew over the barren ground, the only remains of a beautiful forest. All that remains is the rocky ground that separates the two of you.
The harsh winds mute to a whisper, and the background has faded away.
All around you and him the world has stopped.
He is the only thing you see – the silhouette of his frame, the red of his hair and the clarity of his eyes. Your eyes greedily take in everything, while your brain furiously works to etch his picture into memory – Jeral is alive.
His eyes have captured you, and it is in his unwavering, intense gaze that the thought strikes you – his eyes are just like before, as clear as the sky, eyes that always manages to penetrate your soul. The feelings you've suppressed inside are tumbling out, unrestrained. It is he alone who has the ability to make your heart jerk like this – over and over again.
This lasts only for a single, precious moment.
The picture comes to life, once again, and the empty stretch of terrain before you feels longer than ever.
He asks, "Can you tell me who Erza is?"
The question stings and you've never felt so far away.
