She woke up in a daze, the sound of traffic heavy in her ears. She looked up and felt a twinge of an emotion that had become unfamiliar to her even before she became a Nobody: fear.
The sight before her was that of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, the first sight new Players always woke up to. She slowly stood up, heart pounding, as she looked around. She took some small comfort in the fact that she could feel the familiar skeletal wings of a Reaper on her back.
Good, that means I haven't been demoted all the way back to player, but- wait Arlene started as a realization came to her. Fear? Heart?! I lost that thing when Shibuya was destroyed! Why is it still here? Why am I here? And most of all, "WHY DO I HAVE A HEART?!"
Arlene took a deep breath, kind of releved that nobody (heh) seemed to have heard her little outburst, a sure sign she was in the Underground, if her wings weren't proof enough. Think, Larxene. How did you get- "oh."
It was coming back to her now. She had been killed by that brat with the key! Uh, the other brat with the key. Come to think of it, weren't the Underground members (of which she was not a part, irony at it's finest) dealing with their own key brat? At least there were only three. I don't think I would be able to handle a fourth on top of being the only female member.
Though… I guess I'm not a member anymore, huh? Can't be a member of Orginazation XIII if you have a heart. Damn that key brat! I never actually wanted this back! I'm going to rip that kid into shreds and make his Soul into Noise food! I'll-
"Yo, Sparky, that you?"
"Huh? Kariya?"
"Yup. And if you're back, I'm gonna hafta look after you and Uzuki. Man, I've got enough on my plate as is."
Arlene simply stared at the lazy Harrier. As long as she had been a Nobody, been Larxene, she had barely thought about him and his partner. She thought they had been erased along with the rest of the World when it fell to Darkness. And now here he was, right as rain, standing right in front of her. She was a bit stunned, to say the least.
"Yo Sparky, you alright?"
Arlene snapped out of her daze at the familiar nickname, "How many times have I told you not to call me that, Lollypop?"
The man in question took the Lollypop in question out of his mouth before shrugging, "Not enough, it looks like. Now c'mon, I wanna see how Uzuki reacts to you being back. Bet you a bowl of ramen she doesn't even register it at first."
"I'm not Uzuki, I don't take your sucker bets." Which had honestly been good practice for dealing with Luxord.
"Aight. How about this: Reaper Sport Three on the way there. Whoever gets the most points gets one of the bowls Uzuki owes me.
"Now you're speaking my language. I'm gonna need something to eat while I tell you and Uzuki what I've been through." Her fingertips sparked as she called her knives to one hand, her old pins clutched in the other.
"Aight, looking forward to it. You tell some interesting stories, Sparky."
"I said don't call me that."
"Whatever you say, Sparky."
He got electrocuted for that, of course, but Arlene was holding in laughter as she did so.
Maybe having her heart back wouldn't be so bad after all
