A/N: I've always thought that Harvey's and Mike's relationships could be interpreted and adapted to be a father/son, bigbrother/littlebrother, and boyfriend/boyfriend relationship. Give me your thoughts.

Mike wanted to pretend that he was striding confidently into the building but in truth he probably looked crazy and frazzled as he ran and maneuvered himself through the various office personnel.

He was trying so hard to not drop his coffee, knowing that he wouldn't have a shot at grabbing another all day. But he was also carrying and incredibly important brief, one that was clutched so hard he worried Harvey would have to pry it off him with a wrench.

He passed by Rachel, barely making eye contact, almost barreled through Louis who yelled after him, "Ross!" and stopped in front of Donna who stared at the heaving mess in front of her, unimpressed.

"Mike, somewhat after your lunch money?"

Ha ha, "Very funny Donna. I was up all night finishing this brief. Harvey told me to have it ready by 7:30, it's currently," He checked his watch, vision still a bit blurry, "7:27. Now if you excuse me, I have 3 minutes to get into his office and hand it to him."

"Uhuh," Donna smiled slightly, "But...you can't"

"What? Why not?"

"Because Scotty is there with him and I'm not sure you want to interrupt them."

Scotty was here? Shit. She was a viper. She was always debasing him. It didn't matter what he did, she always found fault with it. He wonders briefly what it was that he did to insult her. What's more was how completely oblivious Harvey was of her treatment. He had thought about bringing it up but always held back. Donna must have sense what he was thinking because she cleared her throat and leaned in. "She'll be gone soon enough, Mike. I think she's just here to finish up the Jenerson's case."

That made sense. The man had various accounts outside NY that would interest Scotty and her firm.

"And if it makes you feel better, I don't like her either."

Mike snorted but nodded. "It does, a bit."

Heels sounded behind him as he sipped his coffee and Rachel approached them. "Mike, you literally almost knocked me off my feet earlier. What was the rush?"

Mike worked hard not to roll his eyes. Lately Rachel had been acting all clingy and snooty, he wished that things could go back to how it was, but the closer he was to her the more he wanted to step away. However, he still cared about her and didn't want to hurt her.

"I'm sorry Rach, I was trying to get Harvey an important brief but turns out that I didn't need to rush over here."

She looked at him sympathetically. "He works you so hard lately." she then eyed his state of dress and wrinkled her nose a bit, "Maybe you should go freshen up a bit."

He had showered. It was just all crinkly.

"You do look a mess." a familiar voice sounded. "Doesn't he, Harvey?" Scotty and Harvey were now outside Harvey's office approaching Donna's desk.

Mike met Harvey's gaze who traveled from head to to before landing on Rachel's hand that was still on his arm. The gaze narrowed, "Mike go freshen up."

He gulped down the retort and gave a sharp nod, turning on his heel before hesitating and brushing past Scotty who startled, to give the brief he was holding to Harvey.

They were standing much too close, Mike having stopped closer than normal when passing Scotty. He looked up as the man accepted the file.

"You completed the brief." Harvey stated.

"Yes."

The man eyed him more critically than before, "You stayed up all night." he once again stated.

"Yes." Mike didn't break eye contact.

Harvey took a step back. "Thank you."

Scotty stepped on Mike's toe, forcing him to contain wince. "Come on Harvey, you said you wanted some coffee before speaking with Jessica about the proposal."

Donna intervened. "You don't have time. Jessica wants you in her office immediately."

"If we hadn't been delayed by such trivial.."

"Here you go." Mike handed Harvey his coffee. He had barely drank from it but felt some warm pleasure flow through him at the smile he received from the older man.

"Thanks Mike."

"Harvey he was drinking that…" began Rachel

"...that's so unsanitary." finished Scotty.

Mike ran a hand through his hair and Harvey took a long swig of the coffee.

"Let's go." He gestured to Scotty to follow. He then called behind him, "Mike you best be in my office and presentable by the time I come back."

Mike turned to both Donna and Rachel and shrugged. He said his goodbyes and headed to the men's restroom to freshen up.

Once that was fixed he went to the bullpen to collect some of his things before going to Harvey's office.

He had just settled in one of the armchairs when his phone rang, it was his Grammy's nurse calling. Fear rose up a bit before he took a deep breath. She might just want a chat. Although when has she called for just that.

"Hello?"

A much too perkey voice answered. "Is this Michael Ross?"

"Yes, is my grandmother okay?"

"Well…" Oh god.

"What happened?" his voice leveled. "Do I need to head over?"

"Oh no, sir, it's nothing too serious!" Mike sighed in relief, relief that was short lived.

"She suffered a fall and fractured her hip." Mike's eyes widened in disbelief before watering a bit.

"How is that NOT serious?!"

The voice stuttered a bit. "She's going into surgery in a few hours." The news got better and better. "But I've been told this is not uncommon and the hospital deals with situations such as these in a regular basis. She'll be fine."

Oh he wanted to scream but all he did was ask for the hospital's name and location. He was going, and that was final.

He hung up and grabbed his jacket, leaving his messenger bag where it was. "Donna?"

She was already rising from her desk enveloping him in a hug. "It's going to be okay." she made him look her straight in the eyes. "She's a fighter."

He nodded, trying to convince himself that his Grammy, his last living relative was not a frail old lady who could die in a surgery table.

"Go tell Harvey." That brought him up short.

"But Donna.."

"Go."

"He's in a meeting."

"Who cares? He would definitely want to know."

He decided not to think too much on it and went to the meeting room, he knocked briefly before opening the door not waiting for an answer.

"Mr. Ross, what a pleasant surprise." Jessica eyed him with her hands clasped in front of her.

Harvey looked astonished at his foolishness and Scotty looked downright pissed.

"I will overlook this as you've given me a great brief but…" Jessica paused, "What on earth is going on?"

Mike turned to Harvey, "It's Grammy, Harvey!"

Harvey's annoyance turned to concern, springing up from his chair. He told Harvey all about the obnoxious nurse and the surgery and the fear and he just couldn't shut up. Not until he smelled Harvey's unique scent and felt the soft fabric of Harvey's suit.

He looked up at the man, "She's all I have." he sniffed a bit. "I have to go."

"I know." the man nodded decidedly, "I'm coming too."

He was about to respond when Scotty beat him to it. "Harvey this is an important discussion, you can't just leave because your associate is spazzing out."

Harvey frowned but surprisingly Jessica intervened. "I believe you and I can finish this discussion ourselves, Harvey has already given his opinion on the matter." she nodded towards the door, "Go."

Harvey and Mike hurriedly left the room, when they reached Donna who was waiting by the elevators Harvey turned to her, "Call Ray."

"Already out front" Mike would have kissed Donna if he wasn't so frazzled.

"And call Dr…"

"He's already aware of the situation and will contact a specialist as soon as you get there."

"Thanks Donna."

Going down the elevator Mike said, "What doctor?"

"You have shitty insurance Mike." Mike knew this, he found out after he sprained his ankle a few months ago, falling from his bike. Harvey had shaken his head and told him that he'd fix it but Mike didn't ask him to elaborate.

"I know but I can't afford another one, and associates don't qualify for one."

"Hmm. But partners do."

Mike blinked, "Well yeah, but I'm not a partner."

"But I" Harvey poked him, "am."

Mike didn't understand but he was much too worried to figure it out.

Luckily Ray got them to the hospital in record time. He found his Grammy sitting by herself in a small uncomfortable looking chair with an IV.

"Grammy!"

"Oh Michael!" the elder woman opened her arms wide, allowing her grandson access. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."

Mike sniffed. "You hurt your hip."

"But they'll fix me right up." She smoothed down his hair.

Harvey stepped forward. "Mrs. Ross?"

"Oh, Harvey, I'm glad you came with Michael, you know how much he worries."

Harvey gave a soft chuckle that made Mike both want to swat him and hug him. "Hey!"

"He does. Listen, I have a better place for you."

"We cannot afford a better place Harvey, and I would not have us indebted to you."

Harvey gave a soft smile, and held both of her hands in his. "You're family."

She hesitated then looked at Mike unsure. He nodded, for he trusted Harvey explicitly.

"Okay, dear."

"Great!" Harvey left to talk to the nurses' station and he then made a call and soon they were being transferred by ambulance to a much nicer hospital where they were greeted by a well-renowned general surgeon. A surgeon who inspired confidence and whom guaranteed a successful surgery.

A few hours later, as Grammy lay asleep, recovering, he turned to Harvey and hugged him.

"Thank you! So much Harvey."

"Silly puppy." he heard Harvey breathe, "Thank you for confiding in me."

The next day he settled himself in Harvey's office, grabbing his forgotten bag and digging through it looking for his stress ball. He had arrived before Harvey, he wanted to make up some work, take the pressure of the man who had just done something incredible for him.

"But Harvey" Scotty whined but cut off as she caught sight of him. The abrupt change caused Harvey to stop short. "Hey puppy."

Mike smiled. "Morning Harvey."

The worked in silence for most of the morning. It was tense. He noticed how close Scotty worked to Harvey. The man let her use part of his desk for her work. The soft touches as they reached for a file or pen at the same time.

He didn't understand why this was bothering him so much. Sure, Scotty was a class A bitch but this was more than that, this was an ugly feeling of abandonment.

"Sorry to interrupt." Rachel popped her head in. Mike looked up and smiled. She smiled wide. "Mike, your Grandma left a message." At his concerned look, Harvey interrupted. "Is she well?" Her smile dimmed a bit but she nodded. "Yeah. Sorry for the scare. She's resting and hopes that you can stop by later today for a visit." Mike turned to Harvey, question on his face. Harvey gave nod, saying, "Ms. Zane you can inform her that she'll have a visit later today." Rachel gave her goodbyes and left them to work.

"Thanks Harvey." he mumbled.

"Don't mention it."

They worked throughout the morning, Mike finding a few loopholes but nothing concrete enough for Harvey and Scotty to present. Scotty was finally called in around two in the afternoon. Mike had to ignore Scotty as she gave Harvey a kiss before leaving, barely giving him a glance.

He must have sensed something was the matter because he found himself the object of Harvey's attention.

"Your grammy is going to be fine, Michael." That startled him but was warmed by Harvey's blatant concern.

"I know I'm not worried."

Harvey gave him that look that said he wasn't convinced.

Mike put down the files he had in hand. He went over to Harvey's desk and sat down in Scotty's empty seat. He was going to tell him all about what he was feeling but looked down just enough to see a file Scotty left behind. No this can't be. Hmm. "Umm Harvey?"

"Yeah?"

"Did Scotty tell you about the signing bonus available to the new CEO?"

"The what?!"

The file was taken out of his hand and he stared as Harvey look at it in complete shock and disappointment. "No she hadn't."

"Perhaps…"

The man gave a defeated sigh. "Don't Mike."

Mike reached out a steady hand and laid it on the man's arm giving it a gentle squeeze. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be. It's Scotty. I should have known she would double cross me. She always does."

Mike frowned. "Look Harvey, we can still close this case."

"Yes."

Mike hated how monotone Harvey sounded.

"I envy yours and Rachel's relationship."

"Harvey you can get anyone you'd want."

For some reason that made Harvey frown, looking upset. "Yeah, why is that?"

"Well…"

Harvey stood from his desk and Mike felt his tension. He watched Harvey pace before throwing himself loosely on the couch in a very undignified unHarvey way. Mike stood and went over to him.

"You believe I'd get someone through my charm and good looks?"

Mike paused but shook his head. "Sure, I suppose that'll help but you're more than just a pretty face." He leaned on the man's shoulder. "You're funny, witty, sarcastic. You're incredibly intelligent and persistent." he started to whisper, "Caring, empathetic, and strong."

"Mike"

Mike closed his eyes, not wanting to see Harvey's analyzing face.

"Puppy?"

A laugh bubbled out and he turned to Harvey who held a soft look. "Must you continue that analogy."

"You're important to me."

The look in those eyes had him losing his mind. "More than Scotty?"

He was pulled into strong arms. He buried his face into Harvey's suit, and sighed. Harvey breathed into his ear a second later, "Much more."

He looked up at that and realized just how close Harvey's face was to his. A hair away. Something unbidden bubbled inside him, "Don't push me away." He closed the distance and lips met lips in a sweet dance. He let Harvey take control of the kiss without a second thought.

They broke apart and Mike subconsciously leaned forward again. "Mike." the man ran a hand through his hair, stressed. "I'm sorry."

"Dammit"

That caught Harvey by surprise and while normally Mike would have apologized he felt they were having a moment, and this moment was about to leave. "You regret it."

"Mike you're with Rachel."

"I think it's funny you don't even mention Scotty."

A frustrated sigh. "That's not important."

"Harvey. I goddamn love you!"

"You fucking asshole!" They both turned to find Scotty there seething while a shocked Donna stood behind her as though she had attempted to stop the woman from entering.

"Uhh, I," Mike began, he didn't see the hit coming. He found himself on his back, vision blurring.

"HOW DARE YOU?!" he heard Harvey yell accompanied by Scotty screaming back, "YOU'RE FUCKING YOUR ASSOCIATE! YOU CHEATING ON ME?!"

He could hear the murmuring of other employees arriving at the spectacle and he could hear Donna calling for security, then silence.

"Scotty get your ass out of my firm." came the no nonsense firm voice of Jessica Pearson.

He felt more than saw Harvey kneeling by his side, meaning Scotty had left.

He touched his nose and knew it was broken, the wet feeling gave away the blood currently covering most of his face. He was probably such a ghastly sight.

"Oh, puppy." He didn't shift away as Harvey took out a handkerchief and tried to wipe away as much blood as possible as they waited for an EMT to arrive.

"Getting blood on your suit." he whispered finally.

Which produced a choked laugh from Harvey, "You're more important than a suit." pause "But if you want to make it up to me you're more than welcome to try." He shivered at the close proximity, "You'll let me take you out."

"You can take me anywhere."

"Hmm, anywhere huh?" Harvey teased and Mike wished he'd stop, it was influencing his body and they were far from alone.

A small kiss was placed by his ear, "Even my bed?"

Mike whimpered, he freaking whimpered. At least the rest would assume it was pain related, who gives a damn if they believed him a wuss. Better than them thinking even with a broken nose and most likely a concussion his body was getting excited at the prospect of being in Harvey's bed, wrapped up in his warm strong arms, as he let himself be….

Luckily, Donna's voice cut through his lust fog, "Ambulance is here."

Turns out he was taken to the same hospital where his Grammy had been operated at. They had set his nose immediately and thankfully it would seem he'd have no permanent change in appearance. His nose felt tender and he feared the moment when he'd sneeze but all was well.

He had waited as Harvey filled out his discharge papers, only giving them to him for him to sign before taking them again.

He sighed and almost jumped as Harvey came in the room shaking his head. "If this is about you not affording it, don't worry about it, told them you're my husband."

Mike gaped at him in disbelief, "That's illegal."

"Hmm, not if it was true."

Did that mean that Harvey...Did Harvey just ask him if…"Oh."

Harvey smiled which made him give a weak one back.

"Come on, let get you home."

"But."

"Home puppy."

During the ride, Mike had contemplated the drastic change in his life. Nothing was the same but it was too good for him to through it away. He knew that his Grammy would be beyond ecstatic, Donna would as well, and Rachel, well he knew she felt him distancing and knew that while she'd be hurt, in the end it'd be for the best. So when they arrived at Harvey's place instead of his crappy apartment he didn't argue, he let himself be guided up, once there he allowed Harvey to shift him not to the guest bedroom but to Harvey's bedroom.

There in the warmth and comfort of Harvey's sanctum he spoke. "Harvey, you have no idea how much I want to."

"But not tonight." Harvey finished for him.

"Mike I probably couldn't kiss you without hurting you right now." The man started changing into pajamas and helping Mike into a second pair, "Besides, what we have Michael...I want it... no I need it to be more than just sex."

A tear came down at that. "Harvey" he sniffled, "I knew you cared."

A warm laugh was easily pulled from Harvey which made Mike feel infinitely much better.
And as they lay there intertwined he couldn't help but thank Scotty for the gift she'd given him. Now he was in the arms of the man he loved. A man who had given him a new chance in life. A man who gave him purpose and who he couldn't live without. Perhaps Harvey hadn't been serious about marriage but he'd make him reconsider. He wants it all.

"Shh, puppy. Stop thinking too much." Warm breath at his neck, "This is more than just puppy love."

Screw it. "Kiss me," he whispered, "Close the deal."

Harvey was the best closer in the city.
