This isn't good, Alex thought as his fingers combed through his hair, this isn't good at all.

Alex glared at the results from his black pseudo-leather chair. He had been working since three that morning and he had progressed little. It resisted everything that he gave it. It continued to grow on its merry way. He cursed under his breath. This thing was becoming a bigger headache than he predicted it to be.

He searched through his notes again; hoping to find something he missed in his initial experiments. He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes. After a few seconds he replaced the glasses on the bridge of his nose. He continued to read through his chicken-scratch of notes. Suddenly he noticed a rather peculiar thing. A smile drew on his face.

He might of found it! Something to fight the virus that had ravaged New York City. It would take some experimentation and increase of dosage, but he could obtain it, the cure. His face beamed with pride. Yes, he, Alex, who had created this epidemic would end it and the whole population would never know.

"Alex Mercer"

Alex's smile dissolved off his face. The hair on the back of his neck stood up. He broke into a cold sweat. The room plumbed; he shivered and nervously gulped. He slowly turned to have a pair of red eyes staring at him from under a white hood.

"You made me this way, and now, you're going to change me back."
