Hey guys! This my second EVER fanfic and I am so excited! Some of you may have read my first fanfic, "The Life of the Halfblood Prince" which I decided to quit because I just wasn't feeling it anymore... However, I am SO excited for this story (as you can clearly tell lol). And yeah... So let's get on with the story!
Disclaimer: All rights go to JK Rowling. She is Queen, and I, but a peasant.
This would probably be at the Malfoy Manor...
Snape's POV
"... But my Lord, you can't," I try to convince. "Just the boy, please just the boy."
"Severus, you know very well that these are not just innocent people... They are known members of the Order and have defied me several times... Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find someone better than that filthy mudblood to love," he spit the words out, while trying (but failing) to comfort me, which he only did because I have been proven to be his most loyal servant.
"But sir... What about the Longbottoms? They had a child at around the same time as the Potters, and they have defied you multiple times," I plead. I'll do anything for her.
"Yes, but Bellatrix has already taken care of them... And I doubt their family of blood traitors would be involved in such a grand prophecy... Please, Severus, listen to reason," he tried to persuade me.
"Please, don't kill her... The boy and James... But not her- please, promise me," I whisper, with a lost hope.
"Alright, Severus, for you," he made a promise I knew he wouldn't keep.
...
"Albus please... I beg of you! Protect them- Lily and the boy must not die please," I beg, with tears in my eyes.
"And what will you do to repay me for this service?" Albus asked, calmly.
"...Anything, I beg of you," I look into his cold, blue eyes, hardened with the stress of war.
"Alright... I'll protect them: they will be given a protection charm-"
"Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!" I smile through my tears.
"but you must understand, Severus, it's up to them to decide how safe they are: they need a good secret keeper in order for this work," Albus continued.
"Please, sir, can't you just be their secret keeper? You're the best there is!" I ask, confused.
"Ah, but that's their decision... who they decide to trust. I will ask them, but I can never be sure how they'll react," Dumbldore told me, sadly.
"And now comes the time to discus payment... Severus, I want you to go back to Voldemort..." he continues. I flinch at the sound of the Dark Lord's name, as I swallow nervously.
"As a spy for us-"
"You mean, for the Order?" I question.
"Yes, and when Voldemort asks you about your business with the Order-which he will know because I know there's a spy for him in the Order... Just not sure who," Albus rambled.
"Sir, how do you know there's a spy but not who?" I ask, confused.
"Because Voldemort is clever when it comes to keeping his spies hidden... But I know he's getting his information from somewhere. I do have my suspicions. Which is where you come in- he'd never second guess one of his most loyal servants decisions, as long as you keep offering to him information. Of course it'll be fake but we will try to go through with certain things to keep you from being killed," Albus planned.
"I assume you know occlumency," he concluded after I felt him trying to enter my brain, and put up a wall.
"Yes, the Dark Lord taught me, in case I ever got captured. I know too much," I explained plainly.
"Well, Severus, do tell at a later point... For now, just promise to be at the next Order meeting."
I promised, and headed out, feeling unexpectedly relieved.
Hopefully that was good... I've always really liked those scenes!
