Another original Thomas story, this time it's a story written in James POV about how he meet and comment.
I remember the day I first met Emily. It was a cool fall day, and I was shunting cars in the yard.
Soon, my friend Edward came by.
"Hello James!" he said cheerfully. "Did you hear the news?"
"What news?" I replied.
"A new engine named Emily has arrived on Sodor. Thomas was cross at her at first for taking her coaches, but now they are really great friends."
"And how did you meet her?"
"Thomas introduced me to her earlier this aafternoon. She seems very nice."
Then Edward puffed off to collect Gordon's coaches, leaving me to wonder who she was.
I finally got my chance that afternoon. Sir Topham Hatt asked me to shunt at the coaling plant while Percy was taking passengers on a tour of Sodor.
When I arrived at the coaling plant, the manager seemed very delighted to see me.
"Hello James!" he said. "It's a good thing you're here. We need a lot of help here today. You and Emily will help out."
I was overjoyed. I was finally going to meet Emily for the first time.
Soon I saw Emily, idiling by the coal chute. I expected her to give me a warm welcome, but instead, she was confused.
"Am I working with you?" she said.
"Why yes you are!" I exclaimed.
But I could tell something was wrong.
"Let's get to work." she said.
Soon we finally got to know each other. I felt pleased working with her.
And then, it happened.
"James, go get those freight cars!"
Usally, getting the freight cars was my job. But this surprised me, because Emily was supposed to be getting the freight cars.
So I got all of them and arranged them in a line.
"Now shunt!"
At first it was easy with a few, but when more cars arrived, the job grew harder and harder.
"Can you help me?!" I said.
"That's your job, so keep shunting!"
By the time I was finished, I was so exhausted, that my face turned bright red. Emily was pleased, but I was cross.
"Great job James!" she said.
"Why were you making me do all the hard work? You know I hate being bossed around."
'Because that's what really useful engines do!"
This made me feel quite pleased.
Now it's been two months since I first meet Emily, and boy let me tell you, we make a fantastic team working together at the shunting yards. And even though she bosses me around sometimes, we are now really great friends.
