A/N this is set two weeks after my previous FanFic 'Rhydian's Return'
It was the day of the full moon, and Maddy and Rhydian were preparing themselves for a night in 'The Den' (which neither of them were particularly looking forward to), with Maddy's parents, Daniel and Emma. It would be the first full moon they had spent together since Rhydian had come back to their pack and it would be their first full moon in 'The Den' since they had always managed to get out of it. Maddy's shoulder still ached a little, but the closer it got to moonrise, the better it felt.
After school, Maddy and Rhydian took their usual route home, playfully chasing each other through the trees and skipping over the logs and branches that littered the floor of the woods. Moonrise wasn't until 7, so they collapsed under their tree. Maddy looked up to Rhydian, she knew what her was thinking. He wanted to transform in wild like they had done during previous full moons.
"We have to go; we can't leave them, especially not after what we've put them through recently. With Ceri and us! I mean they like you and everything, but I'm still a cub in their eyes!"
Rhydian sighed, letting out a little giggle about her last comment. He knew that Maddy was right, so he stood up and extended his hand to Maddy. She smiled as she took his hand and they ran off into the woods, making their way back to the Smith's house.
Later that evening
Daniel and Emma sat at the kitchen table waiting for Rhydian and Maddy to show up. Everything was ready for them in the den, but they were still slightly unsure whether Maddy and Rhydian would be spending the full moon with them, given their track record of getting out of it. Daniel was just about to lock the front door, giving up on any hope that Maddy and Rhydian would arrive, when they jumped through laughing, with Maddy on Rhydian's back, giddy with the extra energy the moon was giving them. Daniel and Emma looked at each other in surprise as the hyper teenagers made their way down the stairs to the cellar without one word of protest.
In the cellar, Rhydian took Maddy's hands and held them close to his chest, looking into her eyes.
"You ready for this?" He asked smiling, as the black veins of the wolf crawled up their necks. Rhydian lowered his head to kiss her before the moon had fully risen. They were interrupted by Maddy's parents bolting the metal door shut so none of them could escape.
It wasn't long before all of them had disappeared and in their place stood four wolves. The two younger wolves soon started chasing each other around the den and were rolling around in the leaves on the floor while they tried to push each other during their play fight. Eventually the two collapsed, exhausted from their fun night as wolves. The smaller, honey-brown wolf (Maddy) was soon asleep with her head resting on her paws. The larger wolf, lighter in colour, lay next to her, curling around her protectively before falling asleep himself.
The older wolves had watch their cub and her wolf-mate (so they believed) all night, and it gave them pleasure to see their daughter so happy again. It had been a rough month for her but she was through it and back to her old self again. It wasn't long after Maddy and Rhydian had settled before her parents were asleep as well.
