E/O Challenge: Emergency. 100 words by MS Word Count.
Author's Note: Short notice and a quirky sense of humor ganged up on me and twisted my arm into writing this. My apologies to those of you not old enough to remember the TV show referenced here. For those of you who are old enough, I sincerely hope you agree that, with all the traveling these guys do, it's not totally beyond the realm of possibility that they could end up in some Los Angeles suburb, on the doorstep of a half-forgotten actor whose married daughter (different last name-thus the surprise) is somehow involved in their latest case. Hey, those pop culture fake IDs were bound to catch up with them sooner or later, right? Yeah, yeah, I know. Johnny Carson used to say that if you had to explain the joke, it wasn't worth telling in the first place. He's probably right, but here goes...
Caught in the Act

"I'm Agent Gage. This is Agent DeSoto," Sam rattled off before even looking at the salt-and-pepper haired man who answered the door.
"Is that supposed to be funny?" a steely voice replied.
Taken aback, Sam looked at Dean, saw his eyes widen in recognition as the man glared at their fake IDs.
"Dammit, Sam, I told you Mr. Randolph Mantooth wouldn't appreciate that joke," Dean scolded, salvaging the situation at Sam's expense. Turning to the older man, he schmoozed, "I'm a huge fan, sir. Medical shows today got nothin' on 'Emergency!'"
Sam just stood there, feeling stupid-and royally pissed.
~~the end~~
(FYI: Randolph Mantooth played EMT John Gage and Kevin Tighe played EMT Roy DeSoto on the 70s drama 'Emergency!'. Gage and DeSoto were partners with Station 51 in Los Angeles, which, in my book, qualifies them as legit aliases for Sam and Dean.)
