Disclaimer: I don't own Star Wars.
"Do not judge me by what you see," he told her, leering ever closer. "but by what you feel."
Rey felt a bit odd about his request, but relented anyway.
One should never judge another based on their outward appearance, she reasoned, so what harm would it be to give him a once-over if only by feeling his energy around her?
"I feel..."
"Wait," he told her, covering her eyes with his hand. "Close your eyes,"
Slowly she obeyed, then proceeded to read him.
She felt darkness, and hatred. Jealousy and rage.
But then there was a curious feeling in the back of her mind.
It felt...almost...lost. Hurt. Betrayed. Belittled. Overshadowed.
There was almost a vulnerable quality to them, and it made her think of him as more human, more fragile, than he appeared to her now.
"You see it, don't you?" he asked her, cautiously removing his hand from her face, and allowing her to gaze upon him once more.
"Yes..." she replied, eying him warily. "Why - ?"
"- Did I want you to see that?" he finished, pulling his glove back on over his hand.
She nodded.
"Because we're the same, you and I," he frowned slightly, though his eyes glistened with an unsettling vindication.
"No," she shook her head. "We're nothing alike!"
"I believe I'll be able to convince you otherwise..."
