"Wally, are you sure about this?" Dick asked as he and Wally were standing outside the store.
Wally sighed. "Yup. I gotta do this."
"You don't have to. You could. . ." Dick couldn't think of another option for Wally.
"But, It's your Xbox! You play it almost every night!"
"I know, but I need the money."
"What did you need it for?" Dick asked as they walked into the game shop.
"I was out with Artemis a few days ago, and while we were walking around some stores, I saw her stare at a dress that was in one of the store windows. We went closer to look at it, and when I told her she should try it on, she said there was no way she would be able to afford it."
"Well you probably have enough games in here to get enough money for the dress, so why are you selling the Xbox too?"
"There's a new restaurant that has a Greek God theme, and she told me it sounded like fun, but that it was really expensive." Wally set the games and console on the store counter. The clerk added up the total for all the games and console.
"Are you sure you wanna sell this? It's in top condition and you look like you take your games seriously." The clerk said.
Wally nodded and the clerk took everything to the back room. The man came back with a clip of money for the games.
"You must really care about her" Dick stated.
Wally just nodded again as he got on his bike and rode to the store to get the dress.
…
Artemis was just sitting on a park bench, waiting for Wally. As she looked at her watch once again, she realized he was now half an hour late. She sighed, deciding to wait a few more minutes before leaving.
A pair of hands lightly covered her eyes from behind, careful not to scare her into hero mode.
"Hey babe." Wally whispered in her ear.
Artemis smiled before shaking her head.
"You're later than usual."
Wally sat next to her, holding a box behind his back. "I know, but I have a good reason for it."
He pulled forward the box and handed it to her. Her eyes widened slightly, shocked that Wally had gotten her a gift.
She opened it and her mouth dropped as she picked up the dress lying in the box. It was a dark green dress that looked like it would end at about her knees. A small lighter green sash wrapped right under her chest, with a strap that would tie around her neck.
"You got me the dress? It must have cost a fortune!" Artemis said.
Wally smiled.
"How did you get the money for it?"
Wally kept smiling. "I sold my Xbox."
"You sacrificed your games?" Artemis slowly smiled for him.
"The dress isn't the only present." Wally reach into his pocket and got the ticket that showed they had reservations at the new restaurant.
Artemis hugged him. "Thanks Wally."
He hugged her back. "It was worth it."
…
57. Sacrifice.
Yay! Little crappy fluff story! I really do like Artemis and Wally together. They would be the cutest couple!
Does anyone remember the show H2O? I love that show so much, and part of this was inspired by a scene from that show.
It does not feel like summer at all! Its like 65 degrees right now. Usually its supposed to hit like the 80's or 90's right now! Depressing. Oh well! Tell me what you thought please! Reviews make me super happy!
