She sat by the window, quiet and observing. Her long green hair shimmered as the sunlight hit it. But her sadness encompassed the beauty that she possessed. Sometimes when she was alone, C.C. allowed herself to feel again: to reminisce, to ponder and hurt all over again. There was no happiness that fueled every waking moment, only pain. It's what kept her from being empty.
She remembered days long past when she had done the same thing but with more life and with a trace of a smile on her lips. She used to giggle as men fawned over her, flattered her,….loved her. Until she realized that it wasn't at all love. It was the power.
Funny thing, you really had to be careful of what you wish for.
"I'll make your wish come true."
And there's him. So foolish, so naïve, so like her.
I'm only using you.
She wanted to spat on his face. But he probably knew, he was a smart boy. Too smart, perhaps. Smarter than any of the people she had been in contract with.
You really are a witch C.C. for ruining another life so that you can discard yours, she thought ruefully to herself. Immortality had turned her heart cold. She's seen so many things. Learned so many things, that she looked at humanity in a different light: a dimmer, darker light.
"Burn that witch!"
She wondered if she really was becoming one. Sighing, she spied Lelouch outside with his classmates in tow.
He's so happy. Why would you do that? Make him feel what you feel?
Because I'm evil, I've been told so many times that I've become one.
What if he really fulfills your wish?... Your real wish?
He won't. Because he's a smart kid. He'll never love a hag like me. No matter how much I don't look like one. He has lots of girls fawning over him.
Her classmate, whom I caused to die. He probably hates me for it, I mean I would If I was him. She's the epitome of bubbliness and icky flowers. But no matter how much I hate to admit it, she's really a charming girl. If she'd live he'd probably choose her by now.
Then there's that red-haired chick that's all over him. She's not too bad either. And good thing I had not yet caused the death of this one. Saw her kiss him once. It was boring so I walked away before I could see his reaction….I wonder what he thought?
And there's the stepsister. But it was probably a crush thing. Suzaku and she had a thing anyway.
He likes young, kind and ladylike girls.
If anything I'm nothing like that, she reminded herself.
Nothing like that…
She closed her eyes.
You're driving me mad.
I'm what's keeping you sane.
She laughed out loud, opening her eyes.
"Have you finally gone insane, witch?"
C.C .slowly turned at the object of her thoughts.
"I probably am," she said quietly, and stood quickly. With a hum she walked past him and locked the door.
Lelouch followed the odd girl with his eyes, still a little speechless.
Was it just him, or did her expression soften for a fraction of a second.
Smiling to himself, he resigned to his bed. He wondered what eternity was like when you didn't spend it alone.
