Snape had come to him begging for the Potter woman's life to be spared, but the Dark Lord wasn't having any of it. He was going to kill the whole Potter family, and nothing Snape said could possibly change his mind.

Yet still Snape persisted with his desperate plea.

Voldemort's temper finally snapped and he shouted, "There are other women! Just forget about Bella!" Upon seeing Snape's puzzled expression in response to this pronouncement the Dark Lord corrected himself, saying in a dismissive manner: "Or Lola, or whatever her name is."

"Yes, my lord," Snape agreed unenthusiastically, not bothering to inform him that the woman's name was actually Lily.

Of course, the Dark Lord knew exactly what the Potter woman's name was. He supposed he was lucky that Snape was too distracted thinking of Lily's near-future death to catch on to the fact Voldemort's slip of the tongue meant something...
