///My lullaby, hung out to dry
What's up with that?
It's over///
Kagome walked past a very familiar site, the site of where her first house used to be before the incident.
///Where are you dad Mum's lookin' sad What's up with that? It's dark in here///
~Flashback~
A pre-teen Kagome Higurashi looked out the kitchen window still waiting for her father to come home as her mother cleaned the kitchen with a sad face. A cloud of darkness swept into the room.
///Why bleeding is breathing You're hiding, underneath the smoke in the room Try, bleeding is believing I used to///
It was smoke. Not to far away, a figure and fire could be seen.
///My mouth is dry Forgot how to cry What's up with that? You're hurting me///
Kagome couldn't cry out to her mother who had disappeared in the fog wandering as blindly as her daughter.
///I'm running fast Can't hide the past What's up with that? You're pushing me///
~Break in flashback~
She didn't want to believe what she had seen that day, no one else would so why should she? She tried hard to think someone else had done it, that maybe it was an accident.. but it wasn't.
///Why, bleeding is breathing You're hiding, underneath the smoke in the room Try, bleeding is believing I used to///
~Back to flashback~
Kagome reached her mother and pointed out the figure that was crawling away from the fire. Her mother began to cry. Why? What and who was it?
///Why, bleeding is breathing You're hiding, underneath the smoke in the room Try, bleeding is breathing I saw you crawling on the floor///
No, it couldn't be. He wasn't even home yet. Why would he try to kill his own flesh and blood? What did they ever do to make him do this to them? It was him though; her eyes never lied to her.
///Why, bleeding is breathing You're hiding, underneath the smoke in the room///
~Break in flashback~
She tried calling him but he would never answer. She wanted to know the truth no matter how heart breaking it would be.
~Back to flashback~
/// Try, bleeding is breathing I saw you crawling to the door Why, bleeding is breathing You're hiding, underneath the smoke in the room///
He hid under the smoke and crawled to the door so they wouldn't notice him, so he could get rid of them without them calling for him to help. He reached the door as his daughter ran to him. *click* He locked the door as he heard her scream to him. He just killed his family and was proud. No more responsibilities of being a father to two. No more having to make enough money to shut the grandfather up. No more wife to nag him for being home late. He was free. Then the neighbors had to notice the fire and call the fire department. Just when he thought he was free; so he ran.
///Try, bleeding is breathing I saw you falling on the floor///
~End flashback~
Kagome threw her cell phone to the ground and stormed away from the rubble. "It was you..." it said. "You did it Dad."
Note-
This idea has been swarming my head for a couple of weeks now. I wanted to get it out. The lyrics are by Natalie Imbruglia "Smoke." If it seems confusing then I will explain: Kagome's father tried to kill her family by burning down the house. Kagome kept trying to contact him to see if the person she saw in the smoke was really him, then she finally gives into her thoughts that it was him. Got it? Good.
