Heh, why do ideas for stories hit me in the worst possible places? Anyway, this is a short Aelita one-shot with a hint of J/A mixed in. Simple ponderings by a pond, enjoy.

One hand braced against the ground for support, the girl drew her other arm back, before flinging it forward gently. The object previously in her hand now flew uninhibited, heading toward the clear, shimmering oval in front of her.

Aelita moved slightly from her crouched position, leaning forward in anticipation as the stone struck the surface.

A soft splash, accompanied by an even softer sploosh sound announcing the rock's entrance, was quickly followed by little ridges of transparent liquid flowing out from it's point of origin.

Fascinating.

Aelita sat back, her eyes remaining glued on the thinning ripples of water extending outward until they reached their peak, before settling back down into the gentle, shifting waters.

Amazing how such a previously placid surface, could produce such startling effects from a mere stone. She thought as she searched the ground for another.

Finding one, she released it toward the pond, again watching as it impacted with the surface.

She smiled lightly, closely observing each ripple as it emerged from the newly created disturbance.

In a way, She mused, watching the new swells flow outward, the ripples seem to represent my life.

From the sudden creation of Lyoko and her existence...

Through the discovery of a world outside her own...

To her first contact with Jeremie and his friends...

Into their war against XANA, and the realization of XANA's virus...

Finally leading up to the calm serenity now surrounding her. Innermost to outermost, each ring signaled a new aspect of her life.

She folded her hands, resting them on her lap as she gazed out at the body of water.

With her virus cleansing a few weeks ago, courtesy of Jeremie, and XANA's defeat at the hands of her friends, her old life was now a thing of the past. Her new life unfolding before her everytime she woke up, her body able to feel the ambient light hitting her skin, able to feel the soft touch of...

Something brushed her leg.

She glanced down, smiling at her companion, who was resting comfortably on the grass next to her, his hand now resting on her leg.

...of his hand. She finished, watching as his eyes slowly opened, his head turning to her.

" Hey Aelita," Jeremie smiled, propping himself on his elbow. " Something on your mind?"

She nodded, then turned her gaze briefly back to the pond. A young couple opposite the two, were gently encouraging their small child into tossing a stone into the water. The child did so, giggling in unrestrained glee as the stone impacted.

Aelita chuckled softly, before gazing into the twin pools of saffire looking up at her. " Just realizing how lucky I am."

" To finally be here?" Jeremie asked, now sitting up.

" To be alive."

Ah, short, but I hope to the point. Just some mostly quiet thinking on Aelita's part as she enjoys life outside Lyoko. Well, as usual, if you read, please review. I like people's thoughts.
