Chapter 1: The Divine Covenant
There are many contracts between the heavens and mortals. Such examples include when the legendary 'Guy of Kicking Everybody' asked Torn, God of Wind to give him a good harvest; or when Manus, Goddess of Nature would give a huge silo of pomegranate juice to Mr Mcnulty every year, in exchange for renaming the body part called the anus to the 'aiop'; or when Mauria, Queen of the Illithids promised Arpeggio Tirel protection from all earthly and divine causes of death in exchange for a delivery of 8000 slaves every six months. Few however are as unusual, or as controversial, as the 'Divine Covenant'.
5000 years ago, three divine powers met at the top of Mount Guiklymont to discuss the best method of dealing with Zek, God of Entropy. The Phoenix God, Tirelyo; the Sand-King Paj'Akrit, and Mobian Gaia, Manus. After long bitter arguing, they agreed that 5 mortals would take on this deadly task. However, Paj'Akrit was only concerned about the money, and his miserly ways had him cast out of The Sanctuary.
On March 3573, as a 17th birthday present, the enigmatic telekinetic Cerys Hedgehog was engaged and, very shortly after that, married to Arpeggio Tirel. Only days before Cerys' brother Sonic, and his girlfriend Xing celebrated their first wedding anniversary. However all was not well...
