Anachronistic poem from Scotland's point of view as she watches France right after the Auld Alliance ended, realising that even though she still has feelings for him, he's already moved on. She's already feeling the pull of time and England's encroachment upon her home, and knows that her freedom and independence are running out.

I sat and saw you from afar;

I listened to it roar

That shining beautiful black car

Wondered how's it behind the door

Inside my head I saw you smile

So close that I could feel

I felt the rumble of your tires

Wishing, wishing it was real

I watched it sadly from afar

The careless slam of open doors

I saw her step out of the car

And my heart fell through the floor

Some things aren't meant to be

Cause I'm at war with me

Because my mind is saying
