In the cold crisp air of Munich Germany, Ed wandered around town square. Today was Ed's 17th birthday. Would anyone remember? Probably not. "Oh, today is also Elysia's birthday." What could she be doing now with out her father to sing happy birthday by her side? Ed was used to having no father by his side. But now Hohenheim made sure to be there for his son's special moment when he blew out those candles.
Snow was falling...just drifting towards the ground. Every flake was unique in it's own way. Just like every person. Everyone had a life, and should be happy for most of it. But hardships would come, then pass. But it was taking a while for Ed's to pass. He didn't really celebrate his birthday. It was just like another day of the year. "Happy Birthday, Edward!" Hohenheim greeted as he walked into the house.
"Hi to you too, Dad."
"I made you a cake. I'm afraid I'm not very good at it though, but it will pass for a birthday cake."
"Great Dad, call me when it's done," Ed said with a hint of sadness.
"Umm...It is done." Hohenheim said carrying the cake that just came out of the oven.
Ed was in his bed. "Make a wish Edward," he remembered his mother say to him. He'd never remembered that before, then why now? Ed drifted into sleep with every passing memory. "Hey Ed!" Winry called. "Happy Birthday to ya!"
"Thanks Winry!" Ed called back. "Hey, mom! Can I have a bigger cake this year?" "Sure Ed, anything for the birthday boy." "Yay!" Winry pushed Ed's face into the cake. "Hey brother! You're not supposed to do that. Ewww now it has you're germs all over it!" "Make a wish sweetheart." 'Okay, my wish is that all of us will be this happy forever.' That was one wish that didn't come true.'
"Al," Ed whispered as he started to wake up. When he woke up all the way, he found a tear running across his cheek.
Ed headed down the stairs.
"Hey Edward, want candles?"
"Sure Dad."
"Okay then, blow them out and make a wish."
Ed thought he was kind of old to be doing that. But he was doing it for his dad. 'Should I even make a wish? Ahhh it's worth a try.'
Central City
"Happy Birthday, Elysia!" everyone yelled. "...And lets not forget Edward Elric!" Gracia added for the other birthday boy that wasn't even there.
Winry put her cup down and looked out the window. "Is something wrong, Winry?" Alphonse asked his sad friend.
"Huh? Al...ummm, no, nothing."
"If it's about brother, don't worry, I'll find him. So we can all be a family again. I promise."
'Okay here I go.' Ed blew out the candles and the room went dark , except for the light shining through the window.
'I'll find you Al. I promise.'
