Chapter 1:
Billy
It was Friday the 13th. I was sitting through Social Studies, waiting for the end of class. Don't get me wrong, Social Studies is a good class, and my teacher is a good teacher, but I have to sit next to this girl I used to like, and well… she doesn't like me. So I was waiting for Social Studies to end when there was a loud thump. Everyone looked out the window, in the direction of the noise. There was a giant snake, thrashing around and blowing up cars outside. Mr. Mirand, my teacher, looked outside and sighed, like this happened every day.
"So much for a peaceful school year," he said.
He went to a drawer, and pulled out what looked like a giant toy sword, but after I took another look, it turned out to be a real sword.
"Whoa," I said, "Where can I get one?"
"Somewhere over the rainbow," Mr. Mirand replied.
Mr. Mirand opens up the rescue window, and proceeds to jump out the window.
"Don't follow me," Mr. Mirand called back, "you aren't ready to fight Python yet!"
We were all too stunned to reply. We watched as he dodges bites from the beast's tail, and jumps out of the way of the beast's tail.
"You cannot besssst me, demigod. I am the mighty Python! Only Apollo wassss able to defeat me!" the snake said.
"I am a son of Athena, I will win!" Mr. Mirand said.
"Athena?" Teddy, a kid in my class said.
"Apollo?" Greg, another kid in my class said.
"Python, isn't that a kind of snake?" said Ryan.
Mr. Mirand then proceeded to fight the snake. It looked like he was gonna lose when we saw a flash of gold, Python let go, and Mr. Mirand cut his head off.
"Wow," I said.
"What happened?" said Ryan.
"Really Ryan?" I said, "Did you fall asleep?"
"No," he replied.
Mr. Mirand gets back in the window, and proceeds to talk about Pearl Harbor, and the beginning of WWII for the United States, like nothing happened at all. We all stared at him with various expressions, from awe to confusion.
Finally he stopped and said, "What are you staring at me for?"
Someone in the back muttered, "Snake."
"What snake?" he replied.
Then the day started to get really bad.
