Shattered glass crunches under the man's worn boots.
Waves of heat roll off his exposed neck- sweat trickling like rain down his body.
Heavy breathing fills the silent, humid air.
The crowbar slips from his trembling fingers and lands with a thud on the dirt below.
Wetness drips down the man's haggard face; it isn't long before he realizes it's not sweat.
Rough, calloused hands wipe away the onslaught of repressed tears.
He takes two shaky steps away from the destruction he's inflicted.
The gaping hole the trunk displays is merely a mimic of where his heart used to be.
